So I got a 2000 formula deluxe 500 fan cooled.  I went through the secondary clutch and noticed theres nothing to adjust the belt tension.  Is there supposed to be a tapered ring, or some set screws on this?  Thanks.

There should be a bolt and lock nut:

Thanks!  I knew there had to be something, im sure i can find some hardware in my stash to work.  The belt must be fairly worn since it sits kinda low as is with nothing in there.

Yes, you can use 3, 6mm hex bolts, 30mm in length with lock nuts on them.  Probably easier to adjust a few hex bolts than the stock allen studs.  Should look something like this...your bolt locations don't appear to be recessed however.

Fellas, projectp`s secondary is a RER unit, I believe you guys are pointing him to "none" RER unit.

Look at the parts for 2000 - 500 FC, you will see no mention of any adjuster bolts, rotating slide etc. I was not aware of this secondary being none adjustable in the traditional manner.

I do not have a 2000 shop manual to check how to adjust, possibly you have to take apart and +/- shims in between the sheaves ????

Any way, projectp, it looks like you are not missing parts ??  It looks like the casing is made to install a adjuster, possibly you can get the parts and make adjust ??

Think you're right.  Scanning the 2000 manual now...

Yes its an RER, the parts diagram shows nothing there, i wasn't sure if it was part of the housing and not available separate or something.  I have the shop manual but its hard to tell, it covers every doo made in 2000.

Right.  No mention of adjustments for the RER sleds.  Just alignment and distance.  Guessing setting you Z measurement to 17mm gets you there.  Odd.

396FA, if you want the 2000 manual, pm your email and I'll send it.

Its got the 1-6 markings on it, on the left side of the first pic, kind of hard to see.  Makes me think it is supposed to have the tapered ring.
