Hi - new to the forum and appreciate your input-

Picked up a 2012 Renegade Adrenaline this past year and overhauling the suspension.  Needed to replace the track and since it is out...

Considering a complete skid swap.

Have a possible RMotion 129" at a reasonable price that may be a better option that sticking a lot of $$ into an SC-5 with non-rebuildable shocks (new Fox Zero Pros for $425 + other replacements on the skid).

My machine:  2012 Renegade Adrenaline SC-5 137"  XP Chassis  (standard Skidoo 137 x 1.25 x 15" track, studded).

Newer skid:  RMotion 129" off of a 2017 MXZ TNT XS Chassis  (HPG Rebuildable shocks)

Would need to get a set of Tracks USA DOO-XR-4 rail extensions to make it a 137.

I've read two forums that talk about this.

https://www.dootalk....-pics-and-info/

https://www.dootalk....xp-sc5-chassis/

It sounds like if you buy the front and rear mounting brackets for an RMotion, you remove the old brackets, adjust to different pre-drilled mounting holes, install the brackets and everything should line up perfect.

Can someone confirm?

Do you advise this approach?

Any one have pics they could share of the mounting on the 2017 MXZ TNT?  with measurements?  (Center to Center, positions)

Thanks!

TL

I believe that track is 16" wide on the 2012

I actually have a 2016 129 sled with the skid out right now. I will try to remember to take a few pics and measurements tomorrow evening.

If I do not post them, PM me to remind me.

Later

Took some measurements and pics. I'll try to create a diagram.

Thanks, @MrGutz for taking the time to measure, pic and post.

On the front, mine has the pre-drilled holes on the plate so those should work great.

I just need to figure out which RMotion rear suspension brackets to go with (2017 MXZ TNT 129 going on a 2012 XP renegade).

I'm going to drill out and relocate the front bracket and dry fit it.  Then, figure out the rear mounting location.

suggestions on the rear mounting bracket part # appreciated.

Yours has the Pre-Punched holes in the front, Nice.....

The rear rackets, you can most likely re-use.

On other sleds I have gone to the hardware store, purchased a 1 inch x 36 x 1/8-ish aluminum strip or "L". Measured for the two holes ( in your case 25.25), drilled them to match the bolts ( 10mm ) mounted the front one and it shows you were the rear one can be, you could drill out the stock ones and move them forward or IF it allows, add a new hole to the stock mount where it is?

Pictures of the stock mount? and where the 25.25 lines up with?

if you use the renegade ones and move it forward, that might move the hole down farther from the tunnel which would jack up the back of the sled.  I think you would be better off seeing if you can find someone parting out a sled that had the 129 and buy those brackets, get the hole to the right c-c, drill the tunnel and mount the bracket.

the front hole mount is pretty easy, especially if yours already has the blank hole.  I put a 137 rmotion into my 09 gtx but it did not have the blank hole (this was probably before they were thinking of production for the rmotion).  Just measure a straight line through the sc5 mounting hole and the rivet on each side of the hole and measure up I believe 1.25"(I would have to look to confirm that measurement) and drill the rmotion hole

Thanks all-

Here are some pics from a "dry fit" using the relocated front mounting holes.  (Skid set in place using the newly relocated front holes)

I bought 2 new rear mounting brackets from SkiDoo dealer ($35 each).  P/Ns 518328344/5 (from the 2017 MXZ TNT)

The skid is resting and about 26.25.  will need to compress it about an inch at install to get to 25.25.

Ready to REMOVE the existing brackets and INSTALL The new ones.  They will not use the same rivet holes so need to drill new.

25.25 is my number!!!  Your diagram is awesome-  Thanks again-

LOVE the idea of picking up the aluminum bar, drilling 25.25 and using as a mounting template.

Will update once finished

RMotion skid with the Tracks USA DOO-XR-4 (4") Rail Extension installed

Sweet product!  Great owners-   very helpful

20200730_230249.jpg

Yes - 2 bolts are missing in the pic.  they accidentally sent 1 bolt incorrect size.  this was before I picked up a replacement and finished installing.

Used the extensions flip-flopped each side to line up to drill 3 holes (1 for mounting, 2 for relocating the track tension bolts.)

Filing needed to trim the rails to get the extensions to fit.

FYI - there's a great video (22 min) showing the whole skid swap process including relocating mounting brackets
