the sled also has a snow lights secondary clutch brace but I think the motor mounts are stock so was thinking of going to solid mounts

Its an xs and I had to add 3 mill of shim to get rid of the noticeable misalignment

have you actually measured your offset? With that helix you are way high on the preload. You need more in the 18 lb range. But you have something going on to snap belts that quickly

I have not as bad as it is to say the original setup was very noticably off and my friend had a kit from the dealer that had 3mm of shim. I installed it shim by shim till all 3mm was in and it looked good by eye, thats where I stopped because thats all the shim That was available. Like I said earlier that was done just before I installed the ultimax belt so as much as I dont like changing more then 1 thing at a time I broke that rule. I bought the sled this fall with a mcx 190 kit in it and have been adding to it since with a motec m130 1050 injectors and aluminum intake. This summer it will be getting the compression lowered to acomidate the gen 2 2867 turbo. I figure I will have to re adjust everything anyways but want and need to know that I am going to have a fun sled that will have limited problems like belt issues.

I think your preload maybe to high.

On my set you just switching from dalton red compression spring to beige torsion at 21lb droped my temps by 20 deg f

What gearing? What’s your turbo set up?

Motec with 16t running 12.5 lbs. Gearing is 27/45

Check to make sure your helix is installed correct something is really messed up

I ran 48-38 with a bunch of different springs for years at 14-15 psi of boost. with 24/38 and 27/45 gearing, with fpp clutch brace and fpp torque stop

Also been threw 4 different primary’s and normally got 1500-2500km on a belt.

I did have 1 belt let go after 25km not sure what happened there

I think after the motor is built and the sled is back together I will be spending a lot of time on the proper clutch alignment. The helix is installed correct and this problem was there when the stock helix was in the sled as well. I was sent some pics of mods to make my stm work so I guess I can move forward with those mods and get the sled ready.

When you install the solid mounts do you still have to give the 1.5mm x y tolerance or do you see the x y to the same measurement

Hey, what diameter is your primary and what belt are you running? Are you running the stock equivalent belt length? If that’s an 8.5” STM, I believe you need to be running the belt length designed for a 1000 SDI Mach Z, not the 1200 belt.

I just got the clutch yesterday and have not had a chance to even put a belt on yet. I just put the clutch on finger tight to check fitment in the sled and noticed that there is no room to get a belt between the clutch and the belly pan also I noticed the clutch and bolt both hit the side panel. As for the belt length when I get home ill measure the clutch and give more info but thats definatly a good bit of info about the possibility of needing a longer belt!

I would check your offset first. Even before you pull your motor so you can know where your at and where you end up. I also have to ask what belts you were running and what primary clutch?

As for the solid motor mounts I set mine .5 mm taper on the factory qrs shaft but with the doodr shaft there is a little play in the splines so it measures straight with that

I was running dayco 5034 belts then switched to an ultimate 821 with better results. I was running a pb80 primary and stock secondary

Shim are not necessary. check the engine alignment, install Shim in the engine supports Clutch side or solid engine supports, install a brace of the engine support which goes to the jackshaft and add a torqstopper support
