I was wondering if the BRP factory workers are still working or are they on shut down ?   I'm guessing the plant is closed due to the CV 19 virus. In Ontario they are talking about many places might very well be closed for months. If this is the case I can't see how BRP will get the sleds built on time.

In Ontario the government is talking this virus could easily be around for 12 to 18 months before we get back to normal. There could be second & third waves of infected people if we don't all keep self distancing from each other.

So what would happen if many of the trails don't even open this coming season & you have ZERO miles on a new sled ?? I'm guessing the warranty will start on the day you pick it up. If I get my new sled in February & trails are not open I'm thinking many people  will walk away from there $500 deposit & just get a new sled the next year. Even a new sled with zero miles will be worth thousands less than what we paid for it.

Great question as I snow checked, like many others. I read through the links BRP provided on their site. My take-away is they are operating at reduced efforts, see link below:

Hope this provided some clarity.

Yeah, I had my dealer return my deposit, I doubt there's a snowball's chance in he**  of us seeing sleds in November/December... the boondoggle lottery thing didn't help, but honestly with what's going on, spending 15K + on a sled just seemed a bit ludicrous to me.

Doesn’t really say much. All we can do is hope for the best.

My dealer is saying BRP, at this point, says they will deliver on time. Nobody can foretell the future but things look ok at this point.

How can any company, or anyone in general, guarantee anything that far away? Knowone even knows what next week will be like at this point. We don’t even know if we can ride next year yet. Trails were closed this winter from the virus. Not like it’s not going to ramp up again when’s it cold next year.

Guy's you are only giving up $500 if they are not made this year... and I would hope we get some perk for that delay from BRP.

I'm not worried about the sleds, as I spring checked two of them...  if they are ready great, if not its my deposit for next year.

BRP has factories in several countries, I would believe the production in Finland will continue more or less as usual if they can get hold of the parts they will need.

Someone correct me if I am wrong. Several years ago my local dealer told me he was obligated to pay for snow check sleds even if the person ordering it never completed the purchase. So you may only lose your $500 if you walk away, but you will be driving a nail in your dealer’s coffin. If you want your dealer to be around, you shouldn’t snow check a sled unless you are very confident you will be taking delivery. People seem to be too casual about walking away from their deposit without thinking about the other consequences.

Talking to friends at the plant in Rovaniemi, Finland, it appears their production is still up and running as they have got no laws or government decisions forcing them to be closed...yet...However, all of the engineers, administrators, marketing people and other office people are working from home.

Things sure looked a whole lot different a month ago when I checked....my 1st obligation is to my family, not the dealer. They had no problem returning my money, said they completely understand... I'll pick up a used sled from them this fall, if conditions have improved then

No dealer is complaining about any spring only sled not picked up. Ever seen one left over?
