Alright guys, just got back from a ride today that included a lot of lake running and I officially have the slowest 850 in the group, by A LOT  <_< at the start of the season I installed a Laflamme clutch kit and at the same time switched to an ultimax 821.  RPM today was right around 8000 but at times varied between 7900 and 8100. I'm really about why I am getting blown away every time I line up with another 850.  I will note that I have the only '17 in the group, the rest are '19's or 20's.  One guy with a '19 renegade has definitely made some clutching changes but he won't tell anyone what he did because its the fastest sled in the group (pulls you start to finish or passes you if you ever get the jump)... the second fastest is a stock '19 mxz xrs and the other ones are all about the same.  Only difference I could find on the specs is that the 17 and 18's engage at 3600 rpm vs 3800 for 19 and up... Should I try clicking down or adding tip weight to my laflamme weights maybe??

Have you always been the slowest or just after the changes?

Try bringing your clicker down first. If that doesn't help, I would pull out the Laflamme kit and see how you line up against the others then.
I know the Laflamme kit seems revy. Compre your tach to the digital gauge. Choose one or the other as reference.

I regret making changes before the season started but I’m pretty confident that overall it’s running very similar to last year.

You ever test it without the clutch kit? Seems all the stocker's are putting a beat down on you. Maybe the kit sucks?

Have you tried a new Skidoo belt ? Some belts work better than others for different reasons. I know this statement will not go over well with some....but I do not feel from my experience the 821 from a performance standpoint is your best choice!

If your clutch kit involved the secondary, there's a 50-50 chance your helix is installed incorrectly.

Next thing I'd do is a visual check of the cylinder head, just under the cylinder top injectors, at the backside of the cylinder, looking for oil and combustion debris, indicating a leaking injector to head seat and gasket. Do not run it if there is anything leaking there!

Other than that I'd do a compression test before riding it again. And of course check the obvious like leaking rave valves.

Please report back with what you find.
