I have started reaching out to some of the aftermarket types to see if anything is happening to support these models.  It would seem at least one clutch kit is coming to market, but not much else.  Getting the impression the industry is waiting to see who the buyers turn out to be and if there is any need of much in the way of aftermarket hop ups.

Has anyone brought one of these home yet in MXZ form? Looking for measurements on the rear shock. My potential candidate is still in the crate at my dealer. Have a full compliment of Pro 40’s currently in my 2017 600 sport carb slated to go in it. Front shock bushing Situation sorted So those are a go (provided reservoir clearance is good) and center should be direct fit. Rear is the only unknown.

I wish they'd let an engineer tell us about the engine, rather than a marketing guy. A lot of "based on" doesn't really say much.

Anybody picked one up yet? What's the recommended fuel & oil? 87 octane & mineral base?

I like the sled and it appears the Hp performance is the bare minimum of what I would like in a sled.

I Still go back to this sled being purposely detunes. If you look at the evolutionary history you can see where the Old 600 or 500ss Carb. came out before the 600 HO, 600 SDI and the 600 DI. The newer Versions were not a tremendous Hp upgrade from the basic 600 carb. So that means you have the 600 Carb. is Stealing sales from the Newer 600 engines. They can’t go back and detune the old 600 engine. So Fast forward to today, Skidoo is getting rid of the Fan and the old 600 carb. This is a perfect time to get the Hp differences more defined by releasing a new Engine with no past Hp Ratings.

My thoughts exactly Kurt.  If they move the budget sled to the current chassis and it has comparable power to the models that cost 40% more, it will cut into the sales of the higher priced models too much.  So you get an 85hp motor.  Decided to pick one up for my wife.  It's the last MXZ 600 efi they will have available this year.  Supposed to arrive in December.

87 octane, and I believe it's XPS e-tec full synthetic. We've got a Expedition coming in with this engine, but dealer doesn't expect it until December.

Building a fast sled in low production numbers (= no profit) so that a handful of 300+ lb guy can drag their fat ***'s across a lake for giggles and bragging rights on DooTalk isn't some thing BRP stockholders want to hear about at the annual meeting.

Iv allways beeen a fan of doos 600s they are bullet proof engines an have more than enough power for the trails.

I slold my brother my 2000 mxz 600 with 6k trouble free miles an starts on ths 1st pull. I will miss that sled alot.

Im happy ski doo still runs this mill its allways been a good solid engine an easy to maintain an never let me down.

Why would it need full synthetic oil? It's low horsepower and no valves to plug up. Might be a good candidate for Mystic oil.

While e-tec spark plugs last you won't need $17.00 spark plugs when the time comes................by the way there easier to change.

Does anyone know the weight of this engine?

I think the 600 EFI is going to weigh close to the 600 carb plus the difference in weight between the 600HOE and 600R, so somewhere around 63 lbs ?

60 lbs 600 Carb
75 lbs 600 HOE
80 lbs 800R E-TEC
81 lbs 600 RE
93 lbs 850 E-TEC
97 lbs 1000 SDI
99 lbs 600 ACE

128 lbs  900 ACE
132 lbs  1200 4-TEC

420 lbs MXZ 600 Carb (2015 XP)
437 lbs MXZ 600 EFI (G4)
462 lbs MXZ 600 RE (G4)

Turbo 850 = 93 lbs + weight of the turbo and heavier exhaust

why....oh... why.... do you make a rider.... possibly entry level.... young.... older...rental use....rider....REMOVE.... their hand from a handlebar....to switch headlights AND bar heater controls.....WHY????
oh yeah.... to save $3.50....I hope this doesn't cost someone a life... or life changing injury....
this sled looks to be a homerun.... but I feel this is a serious design oversight....or financial decision....I hope I'm wrong....my .02

Let’s be realistic- If someone is making constant changes to hand and thumb warmer temp there would seem a bigger problem, no reason an occasional temperature adjustment can’t be made when removal of the hand does not pose a threat to society. Not too likely an inexperienced rider will be on one of these leading a group in the dark of night making the headlight thing a non issue.
