Sorry if this is been answered already but I did do a search and scrolled through many pages but could not find the answer. Just bought a 2020 600R (not home yet so can’t look in manual) and haven’t bought a new sled since 2012 and can’t remember what the break in is. Also since this is a new engine I wasn’t sure if it may have changed since my 2012 etec. Asking because I like to schedule my trips around the break in period so first service isn’t needed in the middle of a Quebec trip. Thanks!

As for that first service It my opinion that your putting way to much thought into it. Ride it, listen to it and check things like clutch temps and at some point after break ins complete take it to the shop for the money grab. They basically look at it and check the chaincase oil and check the chaincase chain and track tension. If your that worried about it these are things that can easily be checked or changed trailside. Good luck with your new sled!

Good news, nothing has changed since your 2012 E-TEC.
During the break-in period:
– Avoid prolonged full throttle operation.
– Avoid sustained accelerations.
– Avoid prolonged cruising speeds.
– Avoid engine overheating.
However, brief accelerations and speed variations contribute to a good break-in.
During a predetermined period, the engine management system controls some engine parameters.
The duration is based on fuel volume. It will take approximately two fuel tanks to complete the break-in.
During this period:
– The engine performance and behavior will not be optimal.
– The fuel and oil consumption will be higher.
