I know there isn’t a lot of activity here but I just purchased a ‘17 MXZ TNT and looking to see where anyone else with similar body style placed NJ reg stickers. I might try to skip the NJ reg and try to register it in NY only. Way easier with their number plate.

That's how I registered all of mine before I moved up here full time, just need to make good on the tax for Dear Leader Cuomo.

Yeah that’s what I figured, pay the 1.875% difference in the tax. I’m assuming you did it in person at the DMV?

Agreed. But at least it’s cheap. $24 for 2 years.

But you'll still need to Reg/ permit in NY @ either $100 or join a Club and discount to $45 + Club dues $30= $75.

Got that right!

Same for wheeler's.

I don't have anything registered in Jersey.

Yea, I had to Plate my UTV in PA, because its 300lbs over the limit.  Just NY Nonsense there is always a way to beat them. Still get the Lewis Co. trail Permit and never have had an issue.

So I registered my new sled in NY yesterday. No issues. Only thing is I didn’t pay tax. I asked about it and DMV told me since I am not a resident of NY I am not required to pay sales tax on it. However I think this would pose an issue when selling the sled?? Any info? Ok with not paying tax but I’m afraid that might come back on me at a later date when trying to sell it if do.

I'm sure your new NY registration reads "Non Transferable" at the bottom.

For you to trade that sled in in NY you will need to pay sales tax.

On a private sale in NY anyone trying to register it will not be able to do so due to the "Non Transferable" designation.

That’s what I thought. Guy at DMV said they were mailing me something else to prove ownership. I feel this isn’t the case. I realize I will have to pay the man at some point but I have no intentions of selling or trading in anytime soon so for now, $516.75 more in my pocket! More money for activities.

Been there buddy.

I opted to sell rather than part out when I was in that boat and ended up have to register here in Jersey for it to be clean to sell.

Original sales receipt from the out of state dealer and my NY "Non Transferable" registration.

It was not a big deal at all, just hurt paying the tax on something I owned for some time. LOL
