As some of you know I have been riding my Polaris Assault a lot this season and not much on the bcx. That's going to be changing now. My bcx has been up north and I have been at home riding from home on the Assault. Anyway I'm finally back up north and got some more seat time on the bcx. If I couldn't ride the two side by side and back to back I would be still quietly freezing my butt off riding the Assault. However after getting back on my bcx after 1,600 km it is glaringly obvious the bcx is the superior sled.
Anyway planned mods are gearing to 23/45, dual carbides because this thing darts like crazy and maybe going to a full width front end depending on how cheap I can get one. I'm sure I don't fit the bcx demographic exactly as I want it more of a 90/10 but sometimes a 137 Just isn't enough so this 146 is mint! Just needs to be a little more trial and I'll be stoked. Put 700 km on the last two days so she does trail ride nice!
So I have acquired the regular 42" front end for the sled, along with a nice set of stage 3 Elka Shocks are on order. Should make this about perfect for what I am after.
Dad has a BCX - we put a set of Freeride KYB clickers on the front. Haven't ridden it, but it should be damn close to perfect. Its going to be a fun sled. I agree with the gear up to a 23/45. The 21 runs out really well (even with my XTX sidewinder 141 to 80) but a 23 would be a great compromise with the 1.6 especially.
Glad you landed on the BCX rather than the POO - rode one in MI a few weeks ago, its no where near the same caliber of sled.

I am teetering between a '19 Assualt and a BCX. Hope 'Doo gets there crap together on a better guage pkg with GPS and better shocks. Watching this thread and some Assault threads in HCS. Would like to drive each but no one around me in central Iowa that I know have one. So I will rely on what I read this winter......
Gearing swap happened tonight. Top speed indicates with 21/45 was 170 km/h I'll report back tomorrow on new top end. That g4 gear case is quite the pita to open up my gosh! What a job!
Guys gearing up I did not need chain to go up two teeth. Stock chain fits.
Few runs down the lake with 23/45 previously I would rev limiter around 170 km/h. I was able to run between 185 and 190 km/h indicated today holding nice at 8000.
Expanding on getting my sled more trail worthy I messed with a lot of stuff this weekend running the same 30 km of trail over and over. Wife and kids were up north so I wasn't far from home.
Anyways I tried 4 different runner setups on the ds2 trying to make them a more trail ski for high speed handing. In the end I removed them went to regular pilots and couldn't be happier. So for my intended use the regular pilots will be for me.
I like the Pilot idea. I actually have my Pilot 6.9's that I am going to put on my BCX. They are about 3/4" wider than the DS and I think the narrower keel will be better on trail! Can't wait to get home to take a rip!

Just an FYI because of the unique spindle of th bcx the carbide choices I usually used don't seem to work well. On my pilot 5.7's I tried cobra heads, snow trackers, dual runners, and regular Doo 4" runners in both ski locations. This is what I settled on, because of the narrow front end too much bite and she's twitchy and tippy so it has to have controlled push to corner fast. Two 4" runners per ski does it for me.
Reading on the other site I thought the Assault was the hands down winner for you.
To see you sold it says alot. I like your reviews because you actually ride them and play with setting/ adjustments, skis, etc.
Even when my brand doesn't come out on top I trust your reviews. Thanks

I ride the same trails as you. Love my freeride but it’s too focused off trail. Was thinking xrs with the 1.6cobra. Have you tried your buddies xrs? If yes how does it compare to yours

By feel the xrs feels way heavier I know that it's not but the balance of the cmotion is just excellent. I don't think I would choose a 137" renegade again but that could always change. My bcx has been faster since day 1. It must be the skid or the track angle. Something about it just makes it roll so easily. The bcx seems to react so much quicker than the xrs it's really hard to explain. Ski doo did an amazing job on this machine.
I wanted to share a trip I am planning to do this weekend to give some of the guys following along an idea of the distances we travel and get from home. This one looks like its just under 500 km, I have done this ride a few times before and on the 850. This will be the BCX first trip though.

I remember DJ did a write up on the freeride 137 in regards 2 speed. I believe he said something about the stiff suspension didn't allow the machine to collapse and put power to the ground as efficient as other sleds with softer setups. I would imagine the xrs is in the same league as far as speed and acceleration are concerned.
I was wondering why you seem to be favoring the SBA on HCS forums. I have a 17 SBA and rode my buddy's 850 back country and didn't want to give it back. LOL We ride in the bush in the UP. Ski Doo must of finally got tired of the SBA beating up on the old Back country. The 850 Back country truly is a game changer.
Great work on all the testing guys, especially you spidey! I have just over 600 miles on my 18 bcx and I'm blown away. I'm bottom out a bunch in the front and have them turned down to the 2 position. Id like some help setting up the back? I weigh 190 with gear on.
So we have the blizzard because the 600R was late showing up. It's the dealer demo. My father says he would order one in a heartbeat he says it's awesome.
