Isn't the new trend to have a shorter tunnel, like the Expert? Maybe the 154 fit the 144 tunnel? I'm using the same principal to extend my 136 to 144. Then fit an XM snow flap which is a fine upgrade. Better yet a removable snow flap!

I already have the longer Summit throttle cable and riser. I just need to find where I hid my 6.9 pilot skis and find narrow A arms and I'm all set for a real heavy elephant off-trail sled....

Only then will I smarten-up and return to the 600 SDI, but this time in the XP chassis (MY2008) to really cut down on the weight. Just imagine the Summit Adrenaline 600 HO SDI @ 120-125 Hp (I ride near sea level) with the lightest chassis. Add a clutch kit with a helix that can hold the skis up and that's real close to my dream sled.

I did use the original cooler. Basically I just cut the section of the tunnel off that the snow flap is bolted to, drilled out all of the rivets that the new top part of the extension would come into contact with and used the existing rivet holes. Then just trim the sides of the tunnel the same as the new extension pieces and start riveting.

So the seat covers the stock tank perfect?

I have seen some videos of a few people shortening the tunnel. Not something I would do. I’ve already got my extension for the tunnel and the track. I got a new snow flap that’s for an 08 doo and a tail light. It fits perfect on the extension. I hope to work on it over the weekend.b0a75c72a5c606efe7dd99b122cb75c6.jpg

Thanks. I bout just the light section without the flap thinking the one I had would work but it didn’t. I got this off eBay but should have gotten it on amazon it was cheaper. I took the light out of the part I didn’t need and put it in this one. I’m stoked about it. I know it’s going to rock once to do the extension.

In 2011 I stuck a 154 in my 144 and never ran a tunnel extension, I do have scratchers on it when I am on a trail i drop them down to keep things cool.  It looked a little weird at first but not to bad now.  I dont like the snow flap I put on it but it works

Daag44, I got a used 05 Summit 600 for my wife to ride and it had a DJ clutch kit and I think a smaller bottom gear.  It was alot lighter than my 800 and it would go places people didnt think a 600 would go.  But then I am at sea level like you are so it was making full power, it was sure a fun and reliable sled.

Let me ask these two dumb questions.

1. With me going to put on a 144 track, will I need to change the gears? If so to what?

2. Since I’m going with a 144 tunnel extension will I really need to get a longer cooler? I do t see the need to though.

Yes if your going from a 121 skid/track to the 144, you will want to regear to make up for the added rotating mass of the new track. Off hand I don’t remember the stock gearing of an 05 500ss, but typically you would want to drop down a few teeth on the top gear. Or maybe look up the gearing for a 05 144 Summit and start from there.

For the cooler, I bet you will be fine with the stock one. But it may depend on your riding conditions and how your going to be using this sled?
Is it going to be more for off trail riding or groomed trails?

My 05 800ho Summit has 19/45 gearing and that’s with a 151 track and 2” lugs.

Looks like the 05 MXZ 500ss ran 22/43 gearing stock.

New light and snow flap. This is going to look great on it. Only question I have is how to protect the wires. They’ll be lose.

I think the last owner changed the gears. I’m holding the the 22T in my hand right now. It was in the storage compartment.
