E-Rave actuator info just for Daag

18 March 2013 - 10:39 AM

Here is some of the info I have been able to gather on the E-Rave Actuator.

The manufacturer is Hella and the basic part No. is 6NW 008 412.

Here is a pic of said actuator. I have not taken one apart to confirm though.

Here is a link to a tester for unit and a typical operation.

This actuator is also used by Garrett as a VNT turbo actuator.

There are a bunch more of videos showing and discussing operation. Thought you might want to dig a little.

Crankshaft rebuild poll

11 March 2013 - 07:21 AM

I was going to start a normal poll but this requires more info to get an idea of best practices for 1000 SDI owners. Here are some questions I would like answered by each member supplying information.  Any comments or additions to poll very welcome.

If you do not have an answer for a given question on poll just input "unknown".

1. Type of crankshaft failure? Rod bearing? Crankshaft bearing? Which bearing?

2. Was there damage to crankcase?

3. Crankshaft rebuild vendor?

4. Did you or someone else check crankshaft runout prior to install? Ok?

5. Did you or someone else check crankshaft rod bearing side clearance? Ok?

6. Did you or someone else check crankcase bore alignment? Ok?

7. Did you or someone else check crankshaft runout after install? Ok?

8. Did you or someone else do a leak check prior to engine install? Ok?

9. How long did rebuild last?

10. What if anything failed after rebuild?

SC5 versus rMotion Mounting Locations

10 March 2013 - 06:29 PM

Anybody have the mounting dimensions for the SC5 versus the rMotion  locations on tunnel?

SkiDoo has done it again.

23 February 2013 - 10:59 AM

Another first for SkiDoo.  Skidoo R & D has developed, without the help of any other snowmobile manufacturer, a new thinner decal that maintains their position as a industry leader in weight reduction.  The new decals weigh less than half of the current decals and have a special Teflon coating to eliminate adhesion of snow further keeping weight to a minimum.  Not only will the new 2014 SkiDoos have new color schemes but the decals have been strategically located through computer aided design to further enhance best in class sled balance.  I am told by an anonymous source that the new suspension systems have been recalibrated to take full advantage of these extreme weight losses.  More news to follow.
