the sled has 5689 miles on it, engine is untouched, compression has been at 134/135 for two years now and i think its time for a ring job. are the cylinders sleeved or nikisl coated ? also will the sled have to be hooked upto a computer after the re-ring, as i am taking the engine out. i will test crankcase seals, mostlikely new reed s and boots, what are a BETTER choice , boyesen or ? also, if it looks pretty worn i will rplace pistons, if I have to , whats the best , oem obviously ?

wante d : 300 ss 294 muffler and secondary for ss elan.

need a muffler off a 294 , and a secondary from a elan ss setup.

i have been given the " oppurtunity" to rebuild a 2000 , 600 mxz, that went this past weekend on the owner , compression 0 psi in mag side , he said he was going a cross the lake when it died, they changed a plug then it ran on one cylinder. spark plug shows normal brown colouration , so it was not a detonation problem , maybe ring failure. or head gasket, coolant was not leaking though . a few things i am wondering or need to know are the torque specs of the cylinder head and head covers. also for the y pipe and intake mounts for the reeds and other notes or precautions i should take , i work on lots of " old iron DOOs being pre 1976" i have expience with my 05 rengade 600 sdi. since its not my sled i would like to do it write. thanks in advance to all for helping on this great site.

i diddnet document it because it was a grooly ugly job that involved cutting her in to 4 peices and glueing it back to gether with 3 16th plate and folloed by a butchered bondo job, and some shiny new paint, shes better than she was at the beggining of the spring when she was held to gether by only the fuel lines. but heres she is now, a monster elan, no , A FRANKEN ELAN< with bogies and a 44 stuffed indo it ,,, tryed her out already it flies ! what was the compression supoosed to be for 71 440s , mines is an arm hurting 157 psi mag and 160 pto , whats with that? also will apower block from say a 294 fit on here?
