wife and i have been throwing around getting our son a sport four wheeler and saw a 2000 400 EX for sale for $1,700. Blue book states it's worth $1,500 in excelent condition. Any dootalkers have experience with this model?

I had one shortly and really wish I could have ridden it more. It seemed like it would have been a very fun quad but I needed money at the time and was flipping stuff. 400ex's, even for being sport quads have a very manageable amount of maintenance. The only way I'd take caution on this deal is if it has motor work done (440 big bore, race cam, etc.) or isn't in the condition the owner said...  Thats when they stop being reliable and start being a pain in the butt, in my experience.. last spring I sold my ex for $1300 but mine wasn't "perfect".. It doesn't, I promise.   For now maybe not... Working on buying a house and may need some extra funds.. Eventually I'd like to though.

My new addition/backup sled.

Skid plate coming, have black vents that need install, putting pilot 6.9's or C&A pros  on, looking for a black thong style headlight bezel, riser, seat foam added and recover, black reflectors, lots of polishing.....

Just got it so it needs a few things but I have alot of sled to work with...
