I bring the bent sled to Pasi's today. Let's see the options.

Are You going to check the Sled during weekend? I could come and see, how bad it is..

1 lynx 5900 503, 1 lynx 5900 494 and a Yamama Venture RS, 1700km 15 days, 2 days in warm places, the rest was huts, snow holes and fantastic sceneries. One morning we had 50cm of new snow :) over 100% grade fully loaded, highest recorded climb 90meters, scariest was even higher and steeper with no tracks.

This video was made by Anne on the Yamaha, great honor to have her around the food would not have been the same without her. Only 3 months of driving experience. The chain oil was a bit bad and we needed to make a couple of small mods to get the luggage attached properly.

Érik from le Bivouac came to try his equipment, and I have to say I will buy a couple of his gear when I visit france. http://lebivouac.fr/ His sled suffered a bent tunnel, broken front suspension, broken front spring, cracked front frame all of it on the last stretch to home hitting an ice block. But we brought it home anyway, this was the last trip for that sled.

I did a full wack of the transmission, only 6000km on it but I needed to ask a lot from it yanking the Yamaha, pulling the Skandic with a broken engine from the previous trip. And I think the prototype PB80 clutch was not helping as it picked up way too high at 3500rpm. Nalle saved me by a drop off in Nuorgam, 1 hour to fit the new transmission in and we got going again.

More to come later.

What are You gong to do with that wrecked 5900?? In my opinion, It wasn´t the last trip for that :blink_old:

Me and one of my hi -power / aggressive track -orientated friend have a plan, that may need a proper Sled Wreck... How about a deal, or should we try to fix it back to safari use?

Sounds like a really good project.. I can recommend the 593SS Engine. With Lynx ST600 It performs quite well.. And I believe, with SWT It works even better.. I think, the SWT has some lower gears, so the pulling power will be quite nice with 600 engine.

I would use Skandic 600 or Lynx ST600 radiators. ST has two radiators in the front and one in the rear, so there are 3 rads inside the tunnel. And in my use, ST has never had any heating problems.. But if that is not enough, You could add a motorbike radiator with a fan to the engine room.. I believe, that would work nicely.

Biglandrider, You are totally right.. Years ago even I didn´t believe, we would get a utility Sled with sports Sled engine.. and now we have.

That 800 engine is a marvellous idea and in fact, It shows who is the king of the market. I surely Hope, the Commander 800 finds those users, who truly understant the value of super strong Wide Track Sled.

In Rovaniemi City, one Snowmobile magazine (MK) and some students had a project something like year 1999 or 2000 or so.. They co-operated with BRP Finland to develope the ultimate offroad sled. The name of that Sled became "Brutal 4XL".. That Sled was basically Lynx 5900 ST (Lynx ST later).. It had a Rotax 800 Engine, a gearbox without the other forwards gear (only F N R -type), 1-UP Seat, no cargo rack rear and an ultimate suspension with heavily modified Lynx Touring rear suspenion system plus a lot of more interesting things, like fog lights, extremely lightweight hood etc..

The MK-magazine tested that Sled, and compared it to Lynx Ranger Mountain 800, Polaris RMK 800 and some other mountain Sled.. Brutal didn´t directly beat those Sleds, but It showed, It had a huge potential to be an ultimate beast for riders who want to discover places no one has been before. In fact, Brutal beated the other competitors in that area.. It wasn´t the lightest Sled of that test and surely, it wasn´t too comfortable, but it Showed, that the WT Sled is truly a multi talented macine if You build it right.

The reason, why I tell you guys about "Brutal" is, that Lynx Commander 800 reminds me A LOT of that brutal prototype. It is something that the Sledding world has never seen before and in my opinion it shows that Rovaniemi guys are willing to take some risks also.. That Commader model won´t be the easiest Sled, so It may (and will) have some critics also. But luckily, there is a lot of Sledders, who are ready for a beast like that.

I would be, but sadly, my wallet won´t... :(

You NA Sledders should be active to have that kind of a Sled available in Your marketing area.. It may not be Lynx Commander, but If You really want that, You may get an Expedition 800 or something like that.. The time shows, but I surely hope, that You will get your own beast someday.
