Let me see what I can do with the photoshop...
Are you buying one?

Sorry I posted and then was away ever since........I would but have debts to pay down first.  No biggie since the old 01 800 is still pretty flawless (and relatively fun).  800 is still smoooooth and torquey as ever since I rebuilt it for fear of it blowing at about 12,000 km.  Now it has 19,000 km on the entire sled.  I don't ride much so it would frankly be stupid to buy a new one given how the old 800 runs when I do need it.  Nevertheless, like many on here I'd get one regardless if I didn't ride much IF I didn't have a mortgage to pay first.  I know many just pay it off over 25 years, and live it up in the meantime going further yet into debt with a $15,000 sled, but it's variable rate to motivate me to dump everything I get my hands on on the mortgage before rates climb.

When I do buy, I'm looking at a Viper LTX SE (or XTX SE but I want the slide-action coupled torsion spring 137 skid of the LTX SE) with a few other options.  Like a 900 ACE Renegade X if it had more power like with a turbo someday, or if the make a 1200 ACE Renegade X or Backcountry X.  Don't think I'd get a Cat with the Yam 1050 engine since I just like Yam better looks wise and trust their clutching/belt-life more.  Polaris is out as no DI 800 and no decent four stroke plus the ProRide weird skid has finally worn off its initial cool factor (and doesn't work as well as Doo's in-tunnel rMotion that's also rising/progressive rate or even MORE rising/progressive rate).  Maybe an 800 ETec Renegade X if I got a 4 year warranty and just rebuilt every 4 years.  A total rebuild on a 2 stroke is a mere $700-800 not including engine re-re and may be the price to pay for lightweight huge power.  They get great mileage on trail riding and I'd sacrifice the oil usage.

Are you actually ordering a sled, or will you be deliberating for another decade?
Not trying to beat you up, but man you can't make a decision.

It has nothing to do with not making a decision as I thought I stated above - oh wait that was in another thread: http://www.dootalk.c...er#entry4240167.  I haven't had time to ride much so hard to justify new when 01 still runs fantastic for an occasional ride.  Mostly though, I have debts to pay first so it'd be stupid to buy now all considered.  In the meantime it's fun to deliberate over all the choices out there.  It is however understandable that you'd ask without seeing what I'd said in that other thread as yes it's been awhile.  To save you digging:

Carolla always has awesome, honest and detailed reviews......thanks (again).

I want the Yamaha Viper version LTX SE for the coupled slide-action but still 137" x 1.25 track.  141 x 1.6 is better yet but its in the torsion springless but lighter and greater weight transfer skid.  I mostly do on trail and bumps so 137 is fine especially when mountain sleds as recent as, well, NOT recent now, 2002 or so had 137" tracks and I can just install a 1.75 on there like I have now.  Can't decide on blue/white or red/black - very very tough decision there.

As for the ride from the skid, I was considering swapping in an rMotion 137 skid and selling the 'Cat' skid, which isn't chopped liver.  Then I'd have the best skid, the best or at least most awesome looking front suspension plus you say it handles flawlessly, arguably the most durable/nice-sounding/snappy (for a 1050 4 stroke - I know 1170 4Tec has more torque) motor, the best fit/finish/quality overall, and to my eyes the most awesome looking sled on snow.

Cat version is likely almost identical other than clutches, but I prefer the Yamaha bodywork which is a vast improvement over what I previously thought was impossible to improve on (Cat looks).  It is a tad pathetic that Yam can't design their own awesome chassis/suspension, but hey.  I do think the Yam will have better resale, quality/reliability/BELT-LIFE etc. even using the same motor.  In a way Cat should be 'rewarded' with the sale since its their R&D other than motor.  However I heard too many horror stories about Cat belts and want Yam quality.

I'm sure new 600 SDI motor will be awesome, and great that they're designing/building it in house, but that Nytro engine is awesome sounding and running plus is reportedly bulletproof.  I forget if it can use 87 octane or not but won't burn oil either.  A new Cat 800 SDI would be even better and maybe in 2015, though Doo has a massive headstart in both displacements.  Cat engine might be more durable though as they tend to be (oiled bearings).

Edit: On second thought maybe not (Viper): http://www.dootalk.c...er#entry4240167.  Also, apparently NOT Yam fit and finish (but Cat's), oh well.  I may also get a 900 ACE Renegade X but want more power.  Hopefully a 1200 ACE comes out, or a 900 ACE turbo, or a 1200 ACE turbo (!)......I like the quietness, smoothness and fuel efficiency of the ACE triple 900 and the fact its in the also great looking XS bodywork.  Then it would have the 137 rMotion skid.  I'd lose the YamaCat front end and the awesome looks however.

I assume you've done that before with no issues, i.e. the rag or glove never tightened up on the shaft and twisted your arm/hand.  Or even if it did, the engine would stall before seriously hurting an entangled hand (from glove or rag) since its only at idle.  I read that and it immediately struck me as a dangerous practice.  I keep loose clothing away from rotating shafst, and have never considered grabbing the end of one, as it sounds like one of those things that may be okay for 100 times but not the 101st......

Yup, pull the primary, Listen to the engine running without it. Grab a shop rag or a old pair of gloves and grab the crank snout while its running and see if the rattle changes.

Here is my version.
I am not feeling the white as much as I thought I would at all.
Cant buy a Yamaha that is red either.
Yami blue is one of those colors I really love and is unique.
So here is my reveal..... drumroll....

Funny - here I wanted the red one with a white tunnel!  Was planning on getting blue and white LTX SE or XTX, and get spare set of red panels and hood to switch back and forth once in awhile.  Maybe you and I could swap plastics!!  I send you my blue ones and you send me your red ones, then you'd have blue and black, and I'd have red and white.....if I was good at photoshopping I'd do a red and white mockup to know for sure I'd like it.
