Best time to buy new sled?

23 March 2013 - 11:25 AM

I'd be looking at picking up a 2013, unless there was some crazy deals going on on 14's in the fall.

I see 2013 etec tnt's going for $8300 now, and 2013 etec gade adrenaline's going for around $8900.     I realize the selection of 13's will be lower in the fall, but are the prices typically higher or about the same.     i'd be in a better financial place in the fall, plus I really don't want to stare at a new sled all summer long.    My lawn (or wife) would not be too happy about that.

Etec fuel pump gasket placement

20 March 2013 - 12:01 AM

Here's a stupid question:

Does the green gasket go between the pump and the tank, or between the pump and the nut?

I would  logically think between the pump and the tank, but I seem to remember being able to see the gasket when I was taking the nut off.

I actually have the service manual, but the picture in the manual is terrible.    Is shows the gasket inside of the nut, but then has the fuel pump offset in the diagram, with an arrow pointing inside the tank.      Pic below is with the gasket between the nut and the pump bezel, which is how I reinstalled it...but seems wrong now that I stare it.      Thanks.

search not working so great

10 March 2013 - 11:58 PM

I noticed this when trying to search the classifieds....but it's probably true throughout the site.

The forum search seems to not work, or work very poorly.

For example:   I tried to search the sled parts sub-forum for the term sc4 (even tried it with a wildcard; sc4*), and came up with one result in sleds for sale.      Then when I manually scroll through each page of the sled parts sub forum, there are several instances of sc4 skids or sc4 parts for sale, but none of them turn up in the search.     Thanks.

etec injector replacement?

23 February 2013 - 07:56 PM

I picked up an injector for my 09 etec, trying to solve this problem:

http://www.dootalk.c...-coil-problems/

I got out to the garage tonight to pop it on, and notice the tag on the injector states:    "....must remain on original cylinder unless a service replacement injector is installed.       Powerhead failure may result...."

I knew it couldn't be as simple as popping off two bolts and plugging a new injector in.     Anybody know what the proper procedure for an injector change is?     For now I'm going to hold off, and since I did already change the coil I'm just going to take her for a shakedown run with the new coil and original injector and hope that does the trick.

Pulling fault codes on 09x?

10 February 2013 - 06:17 PM

I've got an 09 x package, and I thought all of the x packages came with the premium gauge package.    My gauges display altitude, top speed, mpg, etc., but not temperature or compass.

Anyway, I've read how to access the P codes (by holding down M, then toggling hi/low beams), but when I do this nothing happens.    Makes me think that I don't have the premium gauges, and maybe I just have the multifunciton gauges?   If I need to buy a different gauge cluster, or a different module, I would do that, but at this point I'm not even sure what I actually need to be able to display any fault codes.     Thanks for any help.

In case anyone finds this in a search...here's the answer!:

All x packages do have the premium or multifunction gauges.

To access the fault codes, hold the M button down for a couple seconds, then RELEASE THE M BUTTON for a second, then hold down the M button again.    While holding the M button down this second time, flash the high/low beam switch at least 7 times.    You don't neeed to click the switch, just depress it about halfway, or enough to actually toggle hour high/low beams.      You're doing all of the with the engine running.

After toggling the hi/low with the M button depressed, you WILL see either your P code displayed, or text which states something to the effect that there are no P codes stored.
