can i pull cylinders and replace pistons with out pulling whole motor?

29 December 2012 - 09:00 PM

hi guys, as title says...... ive never done it really but i found it to be easiest to just pull the whole motor previously when ive worked on it, but id prefer to not do that if i dont have to....

so if i can remove the cylinders and replace pistons with crank case still in chassis, what do i need to remove? can i manage to get it out with y pipe still on? or do i literally got to pull everything off the block or what?,
Basically, time wise what is best way to do it?, Thanks!

in need of some good gloves that keep hands dry & warm

24 December 2012 - 08:27 PM

hi guys, i have been using cheap 30-40$ pair of gloves but they are crap, tired of hands getting wet when i get warm from playing around, and then once hands are wet they get cold.... no fun!

what are your guys findings on say, KLIM? how about motor fist?

was looking at these at a local outdoors store here, and guys say its what all the search and rescue guys where and backpackers, say its probably one of hte best gloves you can  buy, they do look like a quality glove http://hestragloves....pro/heli-glove/

but then again you just never know

what do you guys use? what are your findings?, Thanks!

WOT pull, then exhaust sounds loud and engine light on

16 December 2012 - 08:34 PM

hi guys, so i dont know if anybody experiences this at all..... or well HAVE experienced it, but basically i do a WOT pull and its fine then let off and all the sudden i can hear the exhaust change, it sounds fat and boggy and its louder, engine lights now on and flashing, i give it gas and it runs like a POS, then if i can force it to do another pull and rev out it may fix it self or reset (coincidence?), i was running at hills then after the last 1 before lunch it was fine but when i let off it then was like that,

Also when it does this i cant go into reverse it just dies....?

I have been hitting my rev limiter a tad until the clutch catches up, could that be the reason why? if hit rev limiter once or 2x real quick would the ecu throw a code and go into protect mode?

Turbo RT 1000 season 2

15 December 2012 - 04:39 PM

hi guys so i thought id share this.... after being bit in the butt by the cast pistons i ran and blew up, they screwed me over 2x :boxing:, as some know, it blew up, hurt the cylinders a bit which got worse and i guess it managed to pitt 1 crank bearings race so i was forced to replace the crank when i took it apart late this summer, i replaced my boondocker snorkel or cold air intake with a powder lites one, the boondockers flexible design was terrible, it would collapse in and restrict air so id suddenly loose all power,

so long story short, pistons were good, but new crank, cylinders with free porting done to them, they opened it all up a bunch but never touched ports timing.... and new pistons of course

my goal this year is what everbody wants, PULL AND GO,oh and 8-10# boost but gotta work on clutch weights first to keep rpm down. i got a new oil pan made up and i plumbed antifreeze to turbo so i dont worry about that getting hot or the oil... like i had last winter

had my fuel controller re programmed with some extra tech in it too, like wack throttle it pulls fuel for a moment to spool faster, and ill have the device to program it with so if my fuelings not right i can fix it my self

so i got out for my first ride of the year and immediately i noticed way more responsive, cruise down trail 1/6th throttle im making  2# boost, before it was more like 1/4 or 1/3, by 1/4 i now have about 5# boost down the trail, when i wack my throttle to play around i got alot less turbo lagg, went from, what like 4 seconds to 1-2 seconds.... of course first ride of the year i have to slowly play with my settings to get it dialed in more but even as it sits now im happy with my tune

Sled at 5# felt like it had alot more power for sure to me, i might of had some boost leaks possibly :blink_old: but i think they got fixed ha ha!,

so heres a pic of how it looks now, and the 2 clips of my buddy riding the sled or testing it, basically when you wack on the throttle it wants to wheelie and front end is very light, any little bump makes you almost flip backwards if you dont let off the throttle real quick, and the ON OFF THROTTLE is very responsive, 0 issues there :biggrin_old:

ill update this thread with progress as i go, i assume it will be more fun videos of riding

lucas oil octane booster....

12 December 2012 - 10:17 PM

hi guys quick question, so i read all over that it provides a 3 point octane boost and it is very true, so 91=94, treats 25Gallons of fuel, my question is, is i got 10 gallons capacity in my sled, would a whole bottle for 25 = say instead of 3 points 6 points? or would it still be 3 points any ways....

i got a bit of a fuel crisis lol and trying to figure out alternatives, iw as running 100LL, but with 1 supplier which is mia.... im thinking 94 pump + booster for a close 97 octane

just wondering if anybody has any opinions or ideas!, Thanks
