I never trust a dealer to tear apart a motor. Take it to the experts who do it for a living....
IMO - They should have told you before they tore it apart:
Option 1 = new crank and rebuild if cases ok.
Option 2 = new short block.
At least you would have known going in and decided to spend or park it for the season.
