You know where you ride, so call the DNR and ask them point-blank. They aren't there to judge you (that's what the Judge did) so they should tell you the right answer with a proper reason and not just "I don't think so". If you doubt it, ask them for the specific statue/code you'd be breaking or cite the exact page in the DNR rules (which are probably on your state DNR's website). Either way, just call them. You're gonna get a lot of opinions here from a lot of people and not one of them will be standing next to you when you get flagged down by the DNR.

i agree, my buddy is in the same boat as you, just got one a few weeks back and was wondering the same, just call the dnr thats your best bet im sure its different everywhere.
