About Me
Hi Ive been a Skidoo Tundra owner for about 5 years now . I chose this sled because I wanted a machine that would be super reliable and super simple to work on myself. I wanted a sled to haul me and a friend as well as our ski gear deep into the back country of BC. When I got my Tuntra LT it run super good and I could double up pretty steep hill's then it started acting up. The symptoms where that it would bog under load when I needed it most in deep pow from a stop. I took it in to be looked at twice and tuned up I really don't know what they did if anything because it never helped at all. Then I did a search and found out about a Ski Doo Campaign N0. 2000-5 SUBJECT: Low Speed Bog .I followed the Instructions and vented my Carb into the air box and changed the Main Jet to a 200 and moved the needle clip. Then this season I went for three test rides and on the third my sled shut down and never started again. The fist ride i went up to 1500m and my sled ran like crap bogging when I stopped, but at wot on groomed trial it was fine except it was slow to rev up from a stop. The second test ride was lower on the mountain and around 1000m and it ran really good I could get the sled Buried in deep snow and just pin it and the rev would climb slowly then steadily pick up to spin the track and motivate the sled forward. I had a lot of fun that day on my " Tuning ride" i was sure it was running better.
Then on the third ride I went further from home and started a little higher in elevation . The sled was running great on the Groomed trail on the way out it felt powerful so good I didnt even pull over to cool down and read the plugs . As I was going up a bit of a hill on the road she shut right down. I got nothing when I tried to restart now even a sputter. I had to abandon here on the side of the trail and catch a ride out no one wanted to tow me. The next day I borrowed a Truck Trailer and a Rev XP and went back to recover my machine it had snowed 14" and I never saw it beside the trail. Every stretch of trail looked the same and I couldn't tell exactly where Id pulled it off the trail. I ran into a ski guide from the Cat sking operation running up the trail and asked if they had seen my Tundra and one of the Piston Bully drivers said they had uncovered it with the Blade of the Cat in the morning. So I went back down the trail and recognized the spot I had left her and there it was a single bar end just poking out of the snow where the Blade of the cat had knocked the snow off. I was super lucky to find it and that I had pulled it off the trail enough it didnt get damaged buy the Blade of the cat. Any way I got it out and back home where it is now waiting to be opened up to see what went wrong.
So the reason I'm on here is to gain knowledge about my Sled and to learn from what other have found that work's and what doesn't and maybe help someone else out in the process.
