If you want a real skidplate, get a hold of Raffi at RPM Composites. Ultimate protection......trusted by many winning teams of Cains Quest! You will not find better protection for your sled.

Could replace a lot of parts for the cost of that skid plate. In addition they look like crap real quick as carbon fiber does no scratch well. Never understood why anyone uses these... JMO!

In Topic: Broken Primary Clutch Puller

03 May 2013 - 10:56 AM

I just broke the skidoo clutch puller trying to get the primary off of a 2009 summit 800.

Any Ideas?

Is there a way I can get the governor cup and sliding flange off?

Is there a way to get the fixed flange off?

If i could do either one of those things i might be able to get vise grips on the end of the puller to remove it.

thanks.

Gook luck! Did this a few years ago on a sled and it was a nightmare. Ended up drilling and drilling and drilling into the center of the sheeve shaft to remove it. Nicked the crank a few times, not much but the crank broke about 3-4 years later right through one of the nicks... When all is said and done and you are removing a clutch again in the future just use a heat gun on the center of the clutch. This will pop it right off. Have used the water trick before and can work good but can be frustrating...

In Topic: Honest comparisons...REV chassis vs. REV XP/SP chassis

01 May 2013 - 08:31 AM

Ive got a 39" ski stance on my 06 146 Rev which Ive ridden for 5 years (1000miles) and finally this year with good conditions around where I live really got a chance to get use to the sled and can ride it pretty hard but I find I get tired quicker then guys riding the XM . So my buddy let me take his sled for a half hour every time we rode this year and I found that the sled handled with soo much more ease. The sled is truly miles ahead of any of the comparisions here. The guy that had the XM that I rode the year before was riding the same sled but a (2012) XP , he even had installed the T motion in that sled and he said the XM was worthe every penny to upgrade.  It all started with a trip to Revelstoke in December and my buddy riding one of the XM's out there to try it out . soon as we got back his sled was sold within a month ,  he bought an XM , I rode it a few times without any intention on upgrading my rev for a few years .. Well tomorrow were heading up to Revelstoke again with 2 XM's on the deck and my Rev sitting in my garage . Enough said .  Once you ride one youll be looking for one

Very similar experience for me. I have an 09 XP 146 (well setup with Toms EA/Evol Rs) and had not intentions of upgrading for at least a few more years... Well then I rode an XM 146 for about 30 mins and I knew before the ride was done I was selling my XP and buying an XM. It simply makes riding so much more enjoyable and at the end of the I know I'll fell like I rode half the miles...
