I have two seasons on a 2011 1200x and after riding both a shortie and a rene 800xs chassis for a couple hrs each ill be buying a rene x 800 and selling my 1200.
They are a great sled and very reliable but those 800s just felt better to me. Plus at about 40 the etech walks (for some reason I felt the need to "edit for bad language" here) away.

They sell a tool to hold the backer. The stud gets spun into the backer. I used a 6mm allen socket and filed it down so it fit tight as heck to the stud. The 1/4" snap on kept twisting off. A little WD, cordless impact and another set of hands and the go in pretty easy. If I remeber we spun the stud through the track and the pushed against it with backer and tightened it up.

I have 3500 miles on mine and they look pretty good.

If I cant trust my friends with my sled maybe I need better friends? I would and have loaned my sled. Miles and loss of value/life? Really? Lifes to short and if your worried about them stiffing you if its wrecked they aint good riding buddies or anyone I would want on a long trip or vacation with.

Its just a sled........Friends and memories made come way way first for me.
