Good place to order trailer wheel/tires?

07 May 2013 - 12:37 PM

My tires & wheels are in rough shape on my Karavan trailer. I'm looking for a decent price on 18.5x8.5-8 wheel & tire combo, 5 lug. Seems the best I can find is 160+ shipping.. brings it to about 205 to my door step. OUCH. Any good deals out there?

Poo Rush 800 Pro R?

11 March 2013 - 02:08 PM

Tossing around the idea of giving up on riding big, heavy & fast snowmobiles. I'm currently on an 05 Mach Z 1000 for the last 3 seasons. I'm addicted to the power of this machine, however my legs, knees & back no longer can handle the big whoops on the trails.

I've thought about rebuilding the suspension, but I think regardless of the shock package up front and in the rear, it's going to be a heavy machine when it hits whoops. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I tossed around the idea of a left-over Z1 Turbo, but I can't bring myself to try out a Cat after I hear about their reliability problems...especially when those words come out of the local Cat dealers service manager.

I've asked around locally and can't get the answers I want because... brand loyalty keeps riders from trying new manufacturers.

I've finally come to terms with the fact that I will indeed have to give up HP to continue riding...

Reading reviews, it seems the Rush Pro-R's are awesome for beat trails. I had the opportunity to ride a new TNT non-xpackage 600ho and it was awesome on the whoops, but felt incredibly underpowered. I've also been on a 500 sno-pro and it was awesome, but same old story, not enough snot. The 'Doo 800's on these forums just scare me for reliability... So I've been on most sleds, except for a Rush.

Has anyone here given them a shot? What did you think? I want to be able to hurt a little less at the end of the night & following week after a rough ride. I like to stand up, but my knees & back often require me to sit down for the big stuff sometimes and would really like to be able to 'hover' or stand up-right as possible. Also have some weakness in my wrists that can affect my grip later in rides.

I am going 'Doo and may take my chances on the 800, if the Rush doesn't suite me more.

Oh and, I'm not gonna sit at home and rot on the couch!!!

Sat for a month and..... ??

11 February 2013 - 09:46 AM

I rode 4 times in January & my 05 Mach Z has sat since. The last ride got a little muddy on the way to the trailer and I went to the car wash, gave the sled a good cleaning and covered her up.

We got the big snow storm late last week and went for a ride Saturday night. Stupid me, I didn't bother to warm the sled up at home - as after my last ride I spent some time inspecting everything just so I didn't have to for the next ride.

Pulled her off the trailer and she turned over and over and over and over, without even farting once. Checked the kill switch, tether, she farted once but still had no life. I tapped the starter again and I could hear the pumps prime, tried again and she turned and turned and turned, farted a couple times but the tach never budged.

I sat there in disbelief that I just pulled this heavy pig off the trailer and it's looking like I'm going to have to push it up the trailer after not riding for a month because of snow conditions... I raged and held the starter down and she fired up, like nothing was wrong. Not a single hicccup all night or the rest of the weekend.

It was only 10 degrees out and hadn't started the sled  since I washed it.

Any ideas as to what maybe happened?

05 Mach idle speed?

27 December 2012 - 11:07 AM

What is the correct idle speed? My 05 Mach idles around 1600ish. Cold idle is about 2000 rpms and after a minute or two of running it settles down to 1600ish.

I also foul plugs like crazy if I let it warm idle for anything more than a minute - but the slightest blip of the throttle will prevent it from happening.

What was the factory idle speed for 05's? If it wasn't 1600ish, why would mine be lower? I saw a picture around here for the idle adjustment but can't seem to find it now... any help would be greatly appreciated!

Z1 vs Mach.... on trails.

20 December 2012 - 09:55 AM

My local dealer and some surrounding dealers have a LOT of left over Z1 sno-pro turbo sleds.....with pricing that I simply can't ignore much longer.

I love my Mach Z. I have 1,200 miles on it, 700 of those miles are mine...in 3 seasons. Poor snow conditions have limited my riding. In 3 short seasons, I've learned that this sled is an absolute monster and is just about unbeatable on groomed trails. However I have also learned I am maxing out the suspension when the trails become whooped up. I know the shocks are tired, after all the sled was built in '04 and is nearing the decade mark in age. Also the idea of owning a near 10 year old 2 stroke with quite the history online (big doo dealer here claims to have sold a lot of Mach's and never had failures & will openly talk "edit for bad language" about their other line of sleds they carry, so I feel they aren't blowing smoke about that).

I love this sled, I'm 'willing' to spend the money & upgrade the suspension, however my single biggest worry is the 2 stroke engine. I've done 5 snowmobile top-ends for friends now, all of them are still running strong. It's pretty basic and most ran lean...nobody squeeked a piston or did anything to really damage crank or cases - so my knowledge is definitely limited. The fear I have for ever having to tear into this engine is paramount. I'm not sure why I'm so terrified of getting into the crank or cases at any point, but I am.

I have been on several other REV 600 & 800's and they did not have the torque or top-end I craved upon exit of corners and I felt I couldn't drive hard enough into corners to have much fun. They all felt tippy without extreme body english and even with a fair amount of lean, they would wash through corners too much for my liking. I never felt stable or confident. My buddies did let me tweak their front springs and strap to see if I could get them to handle better for me but nothing seemed to satisfy me. I also had the chance to ride an 09 600, I did not like the 'dirt bike' ride height feel to it at all, it was extremely tippy and just plowed through every corner I went for. I imagine the carbides were junk and the sled wasn't set up at all - however the rear suspension did an amazing job in the whoops.... but again, major lack of power.

I can't say enough about how confident and stable the RT is and how well it handles corners at just about any speed you drive into them. Even when we get into the real tight and twisty stuff, my buddies are no where to be found...when they all insisted back at the truck that would be where they'd run me down.

Has anyone here switched to a Z1? The idea of a 4 stroke, with a power adder from the factory is impossible to overlook any more. The itch I have for 200+hp on an engine that will not have the same quirks and short lifespan as a 2 stroke....is intense. However, the fear of being unhappy with it's cornering ability, stability and suspension makes it hard for me to upgrade. Unfortunately I do not know anyone with a Z1 Turbo to borrow for a few miles on trail...
