Hi, in a year or so i'm thinking of getting a dirt bike in a year or so and want to get a 4 stroke 250 due to longevity and fuel mileage, for just getting around would you recommend one over a atv?
Longevity & fuel mileage? What about a Kawi KLX 250s? I average 56 MPG on the street and there are guys on the Kawasaki forum with 15K miles on their KLXs. With a little suspension and carburetor work, these bikes handle off-road extremely well. I've owned 3 different racing 4-stroke KTMs over the last 20 years & would love to have another but they are expensive..

I would recommend buying the track that will accommodate the 90% of your riding, which is NY groomed trails..? The Ice Ripper XT is a great trail track.. I've been running one on my 600 SDI Rev the last two seasons and my primary riding is off-trail in central UP of Michigan..

I think it will arrive calibrated for sea-level. Some of the dealers I talked to this spring were telling me that the sea-level calibration kit was one of the free options. My dealer informed me that this kit is for the Summits only and the BCXs are setup for sea-level..
Congrats on the new ride ![]()
