Dow chemical has no ethics!!!

2 years ago our plant could not keep people, so Dow came up with a retention plan. 10% of your base for 2 years and the big one at the end 20% of your gross was the main goal. This seemed to work alot of guy's said thats a fair deal as other plants to the north are paying more money but with this retention plan it's so close that it not worth the move.....wrong.

They told us this is a legal deal no one can take it away, they promised us out the ying yang that this is a soild deal.

Well they paid us one year now we come to work today to find out that they have cancelled the whole deal. Nice 2 years in and they pull it out.

Very dissapointing to be lied to and mislead once again from DOW CHEMICAL. So coming from somone who has been here for 10 years, do not trust any deals with Dow as you will more than likley get screwed! They have proved without a doute that they cannot be trusted. If you can buy a different product that supports their employee's with resect and honor, I would have to say buy it from them. As every time you see a DOW product please put it back on the shelf.

So will the retention problem return again? Will workers move on to the better paying plants to the north?

ys that, when we get done plowin for 8 hours strait, we do all the hess gas stations and the m and t banks in the area, would u wanna load the trailer up and drive and hour in a half to go ridding, lol i bet ya u would say f it like i do, plus they look good sitting in my garage, lol and my name is willpower cus 2 years ago i went on a diet and since then i lost 189 pounds, i think i deserve that name

i dont know, my father and i got 09's and we went once so far, i think 63 miles we went, and i have no ambition to go again, i dont know, for some reason we are just not into it this year, and all my buddies say the same thing, they say snowmobiling isnt fun anymore, its like a job, after u do everything, get dressed, load the trailer and drive an hour, it feels like ur forced to go, then after all that u get up there and the trails sux, maybe we just neeed a break.

First off I have a biased point of view. I work for a Tier 1 supplier that does business with both foreign & domestic, GM & Toyota. If GM goes down, I will likely be looking for  job. Worse than that, I think that if GM goes down, North America will be in a recession that will make the 30's look like a picnic. Today's society cannot cope like they did back then, how many people have a garden in their back yard today?
  So I have to say I'm in favor of some kind of a bailout. Like others have said, the bailout should come with stings attached. 30% off the top sounds like a good idea for all hourly workers on up to the top executives, and include the retiree's benefits.
  The problem I see with a bailout is that GM would still not be a viable company. The differences I see between the domestic & off shore customers my plant deals with goes way beyond wages.

  How do you attach strings to a bailout that would secure better management, smarter engineering, cost effective policies, 8 hours of work for 8 hours of pay on the shop floor, a complete mindset change to work together towards a quality product?

Just need a nice place to stay.
