Topics I've Started

Hey Ontario sledders...get yourself to Royal Dist for great deals!

26 April 2013 - 04:42 PM

It is their no tax tent sale this week.

I bought a track that was listed in their catalog for $740 plus $96 tax, totaling $836.

I paid $672.00 OTD!!

I am very happy with this deal. This track is new this year and is not even in BRP's catalog.

It is an Ice Attack 9134h

16"x 137’’ x 1.375’’ 49 lbs x 2.86" pitch

on my new 14 Renegade X.

This is a hacksaw lug.

This is the first year you can get the 16" Renegade track pre-studded.

Just dropped it off at my dealer waiting for my 14 800e gade to show up.

BRING ON THE WINTER.

Another what is it worth thread...08 600 Gade and 11 800 GadeX

30 March 2013 - 09:25 PM

I have not done one of these threads before so I hope I can get help here.

I have a friend who wants to trade his 08 600 Adrenaline Gade (non X) with 1.25 Ice Ripper track and Electric start.

It has 13 000km`s and the motor has not been touched. It needs a rebuild...it has seen MANY WOT miles...I was the original owner. It has seen many hours with it`s neck being wrung...it has done very well but it is on borrowed time I suspect.

It is in decent shape...but it has lots of kms.

He wants my 11 Gade X, no electric start. I have a 1.375 Ice attack that was replaced under warrenty...so the track currently has 6000kms.

The entire motor was replace at 7700kms along with the oil pump (pump failed) so the motor only has slightly more than 2000kms on it...the entire sled has just shy of 10 000kms. The 800 etec motor is a brand new 2012 motor...not a reman or rebuild.

Not sure what I should want in trade.

I am thinking $7500 difference.

He is going up:

600 to 800

13000km on motor to 2200km on motor

13000 on track to 6000 on track

non X to an X

08 to 11

going down to no electric start

going to a bigger lug track

13000 km on entire sled to 9900km on sled

Thanks for your help.

Sledding in Northern Ontario is EPIC!!!!!!

30 March 2013 - 12:18 PM

Got home Thursday from a season ending trip in Northern Ontario...and it was epic...as it always is.

The clubs up there (Cochrane- Hearst) do an AMAZING job of maintaining the trails.

Every mile that we were on was freshly groomed this week and they were like glass.

Big thanks goes to all the workers and volunteers who provide some of the best sledding on lthe planet.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!

We put on 1040km and put 12.4hrs on my sled in three days.

Checked how deep the snow is half way to the canyon and it was 4 ft just off trail.

What a way to end a season. I only got 3000km this year, but it ended with a bang for sure.

Comparing the weights of all BRP's sled motors

26 February 2013 - 08:45 PM

To do some extrapolation after comparing different motors that are the same sleds I came up with the following weights.

IF all the motors where in the same chassis with the TNT configuration (for example) this is what the weights would look like:

500carb- 453 lbs
550Fan - 444 lbs
600etec - 456 lbs
800etec - 468 lbs
600ace - 464 lbs
900 ace - 485 lbs
1200 4S - 502 lbs

* - all these sleds would have electric start, subtract 23 lbs to remove it.

Buddy ran Ski doo FOUR stroke oil in his etec 800!!!

10 February 2013 - 11:17 AM

I just got home from a trip and I was emptying out the back of my truck when I come across a yellow BRP oil container. I keep them because my dealer fills bulk for a good price.

I looked at the caontainer and notice it said sythetic 4 stroke.

I just got off the phone with my friend and I asked him if he noticed and he said the dealer handed him a box of that oil and he never really looked.

I can see why, the bottles are EXACTLY THE SAME with the exception of the number 4 or 2 on the label...you really have to pay attention.

I suspect during breakin it will not caused any issues as the amount of oil it went through you will have addequeate lub...but I am glad it was not my sled just the same.

He will be taking it to the dealer for the 10 hr monday and will mention it.

At the very least they better scope the motor and pull the raves and check it out.

PAY ATTENTION TO THOSE JUGS BOYS...and not the fleshy ones.
