Crank rebuild

Where can you get a crank rebuilt, and what's it usually run? 09 800R is what Im looking to get done

09 800r--need help...

10 March 2013 - 12:04 AM

I just recently sold my 09 800r to a buddy blown up, we got cylinders replatted new pistons..blew up again, cylinder replating company "edit for bad language" up and warrantied. Got it back together the other day, all new pistons and cylinder, has 60 miles on it..and then problems start..it now only will pull 7800 Rpms and sounds like it's running on one cylinder, but, it's not. Originally ran 7700 on clicker three, adjusted to 5 and now 7800..it wont do higher it seems..Pulls 96 mph at 7800..we pulled the top end apart, and checked compression, all perfect, just like new. Next, checked reeds and carbs, both also perfect. It's also pulling a "edit for bad language" load of fuel, way to much, but it's set up exactly how it was before, and ran amazing for 60 miles. No idea what the problem is, maybe DPM or something preventing it from running higher Rpms? Also checked fuel pump, looked fine..idk what's going on, any suggestions or help would be great.

Motor burn down.

This weekend my sled locked up, the piston was stuck in the cylinder and wouldn't come free. This clearly ruined the nikasil wall of the cylinder. I'm just trying to see if anyone would no the cause? The night before I rode it in powder for a good 20min, then rode about 15 miles on snow covered roads and parked it for the night. Next day start it, make it a few hundred yards and that happened. I'm thinking the holes in my rear of the airbox possibly let snow into to motor causing all of this?

800R clutching-not your typical "kit" questions

18 December 2012 - 07:25 PM

So..I hve a 09 800R. I've played with kits, and my own little clutching variations. I don't know a whole ton about clutching, but have used sites like this and http://www.ibackshif...e-revzone-1.asp to help me learn basics and have some knowledge. Although I find it sweet you can buy kits, I don't see a huge point in it, especially when it comes to racing, running a kit could easily put me on same play field as anyone else who has a credit card..my actualy point of this post, is to gain a little more knowledge and get some tips on how to improve my sleds performance.

I will first state, I could careless about trail performance. It is no longer used for that, meaning back shift is out the window.

First question: what is the stock helix angle of my 09 x? I never played with diff angles as I've never known the real stock angle.

2: other than Engagment rpm, what does a stiffer primary spring really do, accept raise rpm off the line?

3: when adding hp, like porting cylinders, adding pipe, head, anything performance wise, where is the best place to start to compensate for this extra power gains, and keep clutching on par with this new found hp?

And my last question is, what's a good place to start in terms of testing with diff springs and helix's..spring rate and helix angles would def help for a starting point..I've also found thus far the stock 09 secondary seems to do very well in a drag situation as opposed to a 08 secondary or one of that size, smaller, less stiff spring is always better for straight line, as opposed to a larger stiffer one, which is better for on off situations, correct?

Thank you on advanced. I've become motivated to find my own clutching set up that works for non trails situation so any tips and information is greatly appreciated. Hopefully this can not only help me, but others looking to do it themselves and not just swipe there card. It's always more fun and satisfying to say you created something then to say I purchased it. Thanks alot in advance again.
