I was driving my pickup on US-31 in Eastport, MI this afternoon. As I neared a grocery store/gas station, a snowmobile approached the side of the road, stopped, and appeared to be waiting for traffic to clear before crossing. Another snowmobile, probably a late 90s MXZ, also approached the side of the road, but was going quite fast. I was ready to get on the brakes in case he didn't stop in time. Then I saw him go airborne as he hit a snowbank about ten feet from the shoulder of the road. Well, he was able to stop alright. He hit a metal sign post dead center and flipped off the machine into the ditch. As we rolled past he seemed to be getting up and in one piece. He might have been laughing based on his gestures to his riding partner on the other machine. Wish I could have captured it on video!
