I went to start my elite today. Turned the key. nothing. No lights, no dash lights, nothing. I tried to put a trickle charger on the battery, but the charger sensed no battery. I figured the battery was dead. I pulled my truck up to it and jump started it. I let it idle for about 15 minutes and then it died for no reason.. Its been pretty cold here at night even in my garage, about 5-10 deg F, so i figured no big deal. I tried the key thinking the battery must have taken some sort of charge, but again, nothing, no lights, no clicks, no dash lights, nada.
Next I took the battery out and changed it for a new one from NAPA. They told me the battery was fully charged and ready to go. After I installed the battery, I got a couple dashboard lights to come on, i think the brake light and the oil light came on, but it still had no intention of turning over. I also heard a quiet buzzing noise coming from the engine compartment. So I jump started it from my truck again and i drove it around the block a couple of times... for about 10 minutes or so until i hit the high beam switch and then all of a sudden all the dashboard light came on.. every one. and the engine would run for 2 seconds or so then die for a split second then run for 2 seconds then die for a split second and kept repeating. At this point i turned the sled around and tried to get the sled home, but i had to stop at a stop sign (riding on the snow covered street) and the engine died.. tried to start, but nothing. just the two dash lights again. no clicks, just the dash lights.. I opened the hood and checked the 50 amp fuse and the 60 amp fuse. I also checked the fuses on the engine fuse block and they were all ok.. But I did identify where the buzzing noise was coming from- inside the engine fuse block on the firewall where the 4 ten amp , 1 five amp, and 1 two amp fuses are located... every time the key was on , the relay inside that engine block was buzzing... key off and the buzzing stops...
At this point im starting to worry about how to fix this... there is not a dealer within three hours of me- never mind if they have ever worked on one of these before...
Just to eliminate the battery as an issue , Im going to disconnect it from the sled and slow charge it tomorrow, then re-install it and see what happens...
I am also going to locate all the other fuses and check them as well...
I am thinking that the relay inside the engine fuse block is part of the ecm- i cant tell from the wiring diagram, maybe someone can clarify that for me... If so, I hope BRP has an extra ECM to sell me... But maybe I just need to replace that relay?
BTW I did warm up the sled a couple of times this year just to make sure it ran and top off the battery and no issues.. There are also no signs of rodents in the sled anywhere.. I'll take a closer look tomorrow, but i haven't had any rodents in the garage for quite a long time and all my bird seed stored in there is unmolested.
Anyone have any ideas?

so i have a brand new summit x xp 146 in my garage. we dont have any real snow here yet. i have been trail riding on my 99 phazer a bit, but the only mileage i have put on the 2012 is backing it in from my pickup truck into my garage.. about 30 ft or so..
I am thinking to sell this thing for as much as i can as soon as i can and maybe get a 2013...
