You should be idling around 1700 RPM.  Adjust as needed to get there... providing your carbs are in good working order.

In Topic: Need help...08 xp gauge not working

13 March 2013 - 11:23 AM

I have seen lots of guage clusters on these sleds act up because someone put them back together and bent the pins.  My first step would be to pop off the guage and unplug the main wire harness from the back.  Have a look and see what the pins looks like.  If they are bent, corroded or both... they will need to be straightened, cleaned, or both...

This will take you about 15 minutes and might save you a lot of chasing electrical problems.  Also, check all of the plugs under the handlebars for corrosion.

If all of this is clean, you can get out your multi-meter and start chasing gremlins.  I hope you don't have to though, cause it's a pain in the butt.

The other electrical issue that your sled is notorious for is the red wires behind the Chain Case that come from your Voltage Regulator.  They have been known to rub on the JackShaft and wear through causing the sled to ground out and in some cases, not run.

Hope this helps.  Good Luck.

In Topic: flex edge track junk!

who cares if the nun is bent a little? i still ride it every weekend. and ive had it for 5 years. my buddy hit a couple things with his xp not near as hard as ive hit stuff with my rev and those tabs broke off on his emodule and you could watch the whole front end flex when he moved it forwards on the trailer.

But it still bent.  That was kind of my point.  If you choose to ride it bent, then that's fine.  All I am saying is that if you are going to bounce these things off of trees and rocks (which we all do, including me) then you have to expect something to give.

I cant imagine that not making warranty.

By the Way xlimited, no sleds aren't made to hit trees at any speed.  We want lightweight, big power, and small price tag and then you expect it take on a tree too.

And Danzick, I'm not sure how much you've ridden that REV, but I have one word for you... NUN.  Those things bent if you breathed on em too hard.

In Topic: A-Arms and.....

The idea of the TI A-Arms is to save your E and S modules, is it not?

They will break before your modules do.  Which is good cause A-Arms are cheap and easy to change compared to doing E and S modules.
