Looking at the speedo at about 2:50 in the video it appears to be about 7900 rpm and just a tick under 100 mph.  I assume the needles froze when the pod came disconnected ??  Scary stuff.  Was gonna ask about the tether but I see you mentioned your buddy pulled his and the sled kept going???  Not good........

You're right... not sure what I was seeing or thinking.  100KPH/60MPH makes more sense for that damage although I'm sure 40MPH wouldn't be a walk in the park either.  Lucky guy igloo. 

Based on the speedo and tach, it looks like the sled was doing about 40 on impact.  One thing that tells me is that even at 40, impact and damage can be quite significant.
