300 Freestyle Questions

I never thought much about it, but I just realized that this motor has no fan...it's a free air!  There are no temp gauges, no fan, nothing...how do you tell when this motor is getting too hot?  Will it bog or shut off?  What are the warmest temps this machine can be riddin in?  Anything else I should know about this motor as far as definite don't do that?

Electric Starter Engages When Connecting to Battery

Guessing this could occur with any similar year sled so I posted here.

Bought this sled used...The old starter died (pretty common for this sled for the year) and the prior owner was running the sled without the starter (removed it). Just picked up a new starter and installed it. Went to connect the positive terminal and as soon as you touch the wire to the battery it sparks fiercely and fires the starter. It spins the starter without pushing the starter button and without the sled even being on (it has a key you can turn on and off). I replaced the solenoid this morning hoping it was the issue and it's not.

Hoping someone can help since I am stumped and I just spent $450 on the starter and solenoid. Thanks!

Inside Trailer Lights Not Working

Everything else works fine...it's just my inside lights in my 4 place enclosed Mission trailer...all the bulbs look good.  Anything to do with the battery inside or is that just for the brakes?

2006 Freestyle 300 belt

I understand this to be a good performing belt based on the feedback that I've read though old posts.  Is this the case?  Anything new come out that is better?  Also, I cannot seem to find a decent price on the Carlisle MAX1065M2 belt.  Any help would be appreciated...thanks!

Factory Decals: Taking off and Installing New

I've got a minor father and son gig later today...I've got a 2006 Freestyle and we bought a bunch of factory parts and accessories last spring and it's time to install them this weekend.  I can do the new handlebars, new starter, skis, and skid plate...I've never taken off factory decals and put on new ones...I know stupid.

Do I need a heat gun to take these off?  I have a new factory doo decal set to re-install.  Do I need any additional adhesive for the new set?  Assume just  a litte rubbing alcohol to clean things up first?  Any other tips  There are not any instructions and I don't want to let my eight year old down.  Thanks all!
