In Topic: How to remove lower A-Arm from ski spindle

17 April 2013 - 05:52 AM

I don't have my sled here so as for the measurement I'm not sure

I'll try to draw a sketch as to what i did

attachicon.gifdootalk balljoint.jpg

bolt is green

nut is red

The bolt should be very close to spindle about 1/8 shorter

Another way is to use a piece of pipe or socket on the spindle

bolt head to the bottom of ball joint and a nut to spread it

The bolt should be long enough to go in socket or pipe about an inch

keep everthing square

dont forget to protect the ski leg

Hope i have explained it better

 good luck

Val

Awesome the sketch helps alot.

Thanks

The only problem with heat and hammer method is that it leaves undesirable looking marks

When i did mine i use a bolt and nut to lift the tapered stud from the ski arm

I took the shocks off first

Then loosen the nuts a few threads, maybe 1/8 gap

when you spread the upper ball joint the a-arms need to be level

spread the joint apart at this location till it pops, doesn't really take that much pressure,

then spread the lower one

I use a 3/4" cap bolt, nut and a piece of flat bar on the lower ball joint , kind of offset a little, thats where the flat bar come in with a rag to protect the paintattachicon.gifdootalk 014.JPG

I should have taken a few pics when i did mine could have been helpfulattachicon.gifdootalk 017.JPG

don't forget to install the new greaseable control arm bushings

Not sure I'm following what you mean.  Can I just remove the lower arm without taking the upper off?  I tried loosening the nut on the bottom removing the snap ring and taping on the bottom of the bolt while the nut is still on there (to protect the threads) and it's not budging.

Any other ideas?

Okay so it's not just my eyesight.  It is a different yellow than typical Skidoo yellow.

Thanks

I know that most aftermarket cans work on both the 800 and 600 carb models...

Anyone know about the OEM's?
