I recently had another installment of my bad luck spree. I had an issue with one motor after putting on a few hundred miles trail riding. Got a nice little plaque for running my 890 in the 1000 trail improved class at Infinity the other weekend only to have problems later in the day while trail riding. End result was the wrist pin tore right out from the piston and broke into pieces. All that’s left of the piston is the full skirt and the dome intact. Everything else on the inside is gone.
It’s a new motor to me so I was getting the jetting and clutching close, once I did that I found that it was breaking up on low to mid range then clearing out. Thought it might have been ignition or maybe antifreeze leaking in. No signs of a leak when I pulled the motor and started to tear into it. Now looking at my needle and tube combo with the 45 pilots and thinking maybe deto. Never rattled a plug loose though.
Any ideas? Has anyone ever ripped a wrist pin out before?
