I get 10mpg+ with my 780...lol
My 780 runs cooler than most sleds on the trail...Even when it was stock, I never overheated. However, with the addition of engine ice and ice scratchers, she always run cool

The rs is a wonderful machine and I wouldn't own anything other thana race sled...
Now, just because you have a RACE SLED< doesn't make it the baddest or the best. He take sa good clutch set up and the shocks sent out to TOM WHITE or Ian to make the sled REALLY shine. The stock stocks are pogo sticks...
Before I dropped in a monster big bore to my rs, I had that peppy little 600 engine set up great. Could tickle 100mph, get 10mpg, and was out front ALL the time, esp if the trails were rough..Now, if the groomer just went by on flatrock, centerville, or rector, sure, that 800 with low profile track would go by...
Moral of the story, if you ride an RS thats set up right, youll never go back to trail sled again...I will PM later on this season and we can meet up..I would be happy to let you take my sled for a rip, just so you can see how well the suspension works, that 75% of it...Tom white is a god.
Now, a topic that really IRKS me is the running out of gas topic...A location such as tug hill, where gas can be found every 15 miles or so, there is NOOOOOO excuse to run out of gas, EVER!!!!! EVER!!! Those that run out of gas should be left there. Running out of the gas is totall stupidity and its clear your friends son does not know his sled...that said, his sled is prob set up "cookie cutter" style, therefore lacking in all departments...
ride a real set up RS and youll see what the hype is all about...

Never said I wasn't studded. I run studs in my 1.75''...
Lucky, so you prefered your 1.75'' for trail riding over its smaller brother?
