Bucksaw

I have had intermittent starting problems. Started right up up after summer storage  and idled fine after warmed up. Then would start intermittently. Changed plug and checked for spark and had none on new and old plugs. Plug wire is not grounding on any metal. I put dielectric grease on all electrical connections I can get at an still no spark. The CDI is about $370. Do these symptoms sound like the CDI?

Just bought a 2006 300F Tundra ( no electric start) and noticed the hinge clips are missing on both side panels. Then I noticed plastic melt under the exhaust where it gets close to the belly. the right side panel plastic where the metal clips were are distorted to the point I couldn't put on replacement clips.
There are old posts that indicate possible causes as holes in exhaust, broken exhaust baffle, too lean, track too tight, letting idle too long.
It seem to have very good compression and starts and idles fine. I thought maye the previous owners kid ran it with the choke on and excess gas got the muffler too hot??? I haven't had the chance to run it yet, so I can't say if it is still getting hot.
Any other suggestions/casuses/fixes would be greatly appreciated.
