I just rebuilt my 02 700, I reused bolts, I also put a small amount of oil on threads, before torque down, so you don't under torque! I have almost 400 miles on my rebuild, and running great so far!

Do you have a y pipe, and main pipe for a 2002 mxz 700?

Sorry my mistake, I have a 02 700, and was told max rpm/peak horse was around there. I figured that was true for all 2strokes, but at least I know that I was misinformed!

I would check compression first! Is it a fan cooled motor, or liquid cooled? 8,000rpm is fine, most 2 strokes hit peak horse around 8,100rpm-8,400rpm
