Looking at Purchasing 2004 Skandic 550f SUV

26 September 2012 - 08:14 AM

Ive been looking to purchase a Skandic for up at the cottage and found someone that has two for sale locally. They are both identical as far as specs. The first one is truly in mint condition hardly a scratch on it. It has 2400km. The second one is has a few things wrong with it. Slightly more scratches but most notably the Right trailing arm for the front suspension has a bend to it. This unit has 1500km. Both machines start up and run fine.

The person selling the machines bought them both new, they have both been dealer maintained and he has the paperwork. He says he didn't replace the one with the Bent trailing arm because he was told it didnt effect anything as the bend isn't significant.

My question is what are they worth. I really only want one but I might buy both if I can get a better deal. Keep in mind I'm in the Huntsville Ontario Canada area. The gentlemen doesn't have a set asking price. I have already seen these units so I'd be going in with a cash offer.

Thanks in advance for your insight

Just picked up 2000 Tundra II R need advice on a few things!

19 March 2012 - 08:52 AM

As the title states, I just picked up a second Tundra II. I have never had so much fun on any other snowmobile and clearly neither has my father in law as he has all but taken over the 2004 I have.

I have a few questions....The first is that this machine was an ex RCMP unit and because of that all of the decals for the hood had been removed and replaced with the police decals. I'm looking to purchase new decals. I see that the only decals now available are for the 2005 tundra which is fine but they are quite expensive. Does anyone know of a dealership that might have old stock of these decals?

My second question is regarding the front suspension... it squeeks when compressed. I have never worked on the front suspension before and am wondering if anyone has run into this problem and what all is involved to get at lubricating it.

I never thought I'd be able to find such a low mileage Tundra II but a little luck must be on my side!

Kimpex 08-401 Ski Skins Installed on 2004 Tundra II

06 January 2012 - 09:07 AM

After reading for hours on this site about what ski skins to purchase for my Tundra I finally decided to try the Kimpex 08-401 skins. Mostly from the comparison that Tundradanman completed.

The first thing I noticed when placing the skins beside the stock steel skis was WOW these things are LONG! The stock skis on my 2004 Tundra are around 38" long where as the Kimpex skins were 44". I wasn't sure I wanted to complete the install at this time as I was worried about having significantly harder steering effort. However I went ahead with the install knowing that it was completely reversible if I wasn't happy with the results.

The pictures say it all, I have yet to actually try out the machine yet but figured I would get this out there in case anyone like myself was wondering what these skins looked like on the machine and hopefully shortly I will be able to report on there performance.

I'd like to hear some feedback from others on what there opinion is as the Tundra is new to me!

Tundra Covers

03 January 2012 - 04:42 PM

Does anyone have a OEM Tundra II cover and what do you think of it? I'm looking to get one for my 2004 Tundra, however the local dealer told me they haven't been made for the last 3 years. Hoping that someone might have a line on one or know of a dealership that has one in stock..

Thanks in advance,

Jason
