I don't know if this extremely relevant (so sorry if it is considered OT), but on my '05, the fuel line from tank to LP pump is 3/8". The line from LP to HP reservoir is 5/16". I asked this question in a different thread and was told all the fuel lines are 5/16" which in my case is not true. Perhaps that diameter drop increases the fuel pressure at the LP pump? Do you guys have the same 3/8" fuel line I have?
On my 2007 the fuel lines are 5/16". Because there is no resistance my L/P pump gauge does not show any reading UNLESS I SQUEEZE THE FUEL LINE downstream of the gauge...then it reads about 6 PSI.
It only took one quick wire connection to the battery, and one wire spliced into the pump wire coming out of the fuse box. Quick, simple and easy to remove/replace. Runs perfect going into 4th year.
Thanks for the confirmation, I will take a look again saturday when I get a chance to work on it again. Did you have any concerns of it being so close to the exhaust suitcase?
I do like the idea of it being in the footwell for accessibility. Hopefully will never need to access it but if i do, it will be right there and wont have to lift the engine to find it. I was even thinking of relocating the voltage regulator to a more accessible location... but havent decided on that one yet.
I am pretty sure I will post when this project is complete .... picking up rebuilt engine monday. Taking my time and going through everything so may not be until end of summer, who knows. No rush, snow is gone anyway. But when it is done this thing should be like a brand new sled.
I plastic tie-wrapped it at several locations, keeping it as far away from the muffler as possible. I have put hundreds of miles on it in all situations, and so far no problems.
I think a piece of aluminum heavy-duty foil at the brake rotor would not hurt, or some type of shielding.
I am replacing my LP fuel pump and relocating to the right foot well like ski 1000 did. I am curious what route you guys took to get the fuel line back up to the tank from the LP pump. I cant really see it in the pictures, but I am guessing it went next to the chain case and that direction and then up past the oil tank? Also, the post says the fuel lines are 5/16 but the one from the tank to the LP pump appears to be 3/8" (but isn't marked). The line from the LP fuel pump up to the tank is indeed marked 5/16" but also looks a little smaller. Am I wrong there? If you have any pointers that would be great! Thanks!
All the fuel lines on my 2007 were 5/16". That is what I used, and everything fit right.
I ran the hose from the outlet of the L/P past the bottom of the chaincase and up and around the oil tank across to the other side, and
brought it in to the tank where the original line went. I believe you are doing the exact same thing. This worked out very well for me. Good luck with your install, let me know if I can help in any way.
Let us know if you hear the mighty roar of a 170 + H.P. Rotax when you're done.
