I was wondering if anyone knew when the stat came from for horse power loss . Lose 3% HP for every 1000 feet u climb in elevation in the mountains . It's all over the net as everyone knows , but is it correct and where did this stat come from. is it the same for a 4 stroke motor. And why 3% is it the lack of oxygen or what. PS I run a 2 stroke

IT IS LACK OF OXYGEN. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT KIND OF ENGINE. TURBO CHARGERS HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM MUCH LIKE AN OXYGEN TANK WOULD HELP A PERSON CLIMBING AT HIGH ELEVATIONS.

I hear the N2O DOES NOT work that well with the e tec. When u hit the N2O the sleds computer picks up the extra heat and puts more gas in to cool everything down And the sled will bog because it is running to rich.

It's not a linear decreas either, more of a logarithmic decrease.
Every day is a good day just try missing one.

Extra heat from the N2O explosion.

N2O = increase in cylinder pressure = more power.

If N2O = extra heat/explosion = molten aluminum.

A properly set-up wet N2O system will not add any extra heat.

Now a dry system, yes......but those who run a dry system need not be around 2-strokes. Don't even think there is a said 'dry kit' for a 2 stroke.

That sounds like a very good explanation But thats what I was told. I was going to go with a 860 with n2O. But was talked out of it. I'm a truth seeker don't want to be wasting $ on stuff that doesn't work Anyone out there running a N2O on a 800 e tec or 860

iv been around a few at some drag events and they run very well. i think you've been misled.

If it were me I would choose a BB over N2O (and I am a N2O guy).....and I would not choose both unless only a on full race sled.

Big John at SHR will be offering his 860BB etec this fall. I would call him for details.

Thanks man. I think I'm gonna go with a boon docker turbo. This only started out as a ? about the 3% HP loss but here we are. I understand people's passion about there sled gear. I'm golfing thinking about making that big pull and I spending 10.000 or 12.000 on mods this summer

Not alot you can do about the 3% loss, Turbo is really the only way. I truly envy all those AK riders with BB's and riding sea level, where as I ride 10K+.....thus the reason I went BB. Now I want a bigger BB....lol.
