Anyone have a 2000 MXZ 600? Love to hear your thought on it, like, dislikes, pro's, con's, etc.

Thanks,

Steve

Miled the crap out of mine, I would not get on a rev or anything newer tho cause you will change your mind lol There good for beating around and trail but nothing to extreme. I would buy one again if i can find a good shape blown up one in a summit set up, I think they handle pretty good in snow when set up.

I have turned down many offers to try a REV for that very reason, I would never be able to get back on my sled. I have always said my next sled will be a Rev, but between Day care & summer camp for my son I don't see it happening anytime soon...The one I am looking at is short money, low miles & in great shape. It will tide me over for another couple of years till I can move on to a Rev....we'll see what happens as money is very tight at the moment...

I think 1999/2000 were some of the best sledding times I had. I 4 or 5 buds had 99 600 mxz's which are the same as the 2000. They were fun sleds...

But as we all know they don't ride as well as the rev's or the XP's.... but they are still a great sled and left many positive memories!

I agree with everyone, you wont dislike it! Very fun sled, reliable, and inexpensive to own. It will make you happy until you can afford a newer chassis.

I have ridden some revs and XP's. I have to wait like you and dont mind, but they are impressive.
99 MXZ 600, 136" skid, 1.75" track....not done yet.

I had a 1996 Mach Z 780 and it was fun for a while but man you take a beating on it in the trails...heavy sucker...lol Then I went to a 2000 mxz 700. I think they are a solid platform better than what you got now as far as suspension and a lot easier to throw around. Had great fun on a 2000. But then I went to a Rev and never looked back...Like others have said don't ride a Rev or you will be ruined. :revinmotion:

I'm low on funds myself,so I have to wait to get that xp700 or 800,too!.And I've ridden a rev,but for 3 seasons I've ridden the same machine, a zx chassis but a 700. Same thing, even the weight.Get it, its the most fun you can have with your clothes on!....Its fairly light, pretty reliable and that year and mine are a bit lower, so you can set them up to corner hard.It works best on groomed trails, like those guys say, but thats all I do, mostly, so thats fine. And when theres fresh snow, there ok with different skis.Take the time to make sure all the bushings, bearings ,tie rod ends etc are in good shape, and set up the front end geometry as per the manual, set the suspension correctly and you'll have a lot of fun. There's a lot of great advice on here about those, so just ask questions, and you can get it right for your type of riding quickly. Good luck.

There is also a few cheap mods along the way to hold you over that don't cost a ton, little tweaks here and there to get it to ride better. I have a few buddys that still ride Zr's and Zx's. They never want to trade up with my rocket as i still like beating a trail with them models and if you get to really ride them hard that really work well i find. Moving the steering shaft forward on a Zr or ZX is the best thing i ever did and i like the 1.5 paddle for some grab and to pull it off trail now and then. A boss seat or rev seat mod will save your back they will show up during the summer pretty cheap. The difference from the 99 and 2000 is the 99s used Cast cylinders so it can be bored out to about 77.5 or 78mm, Much cheaper if you burn your top end down and mess up a Nikicle jug. But the little 600 held its own wasn't to fast or to slow and was ok on fuel. Great motors

I've got the 99, fun, tough sled. I changed the factory reeds for boyesen, really livened it up in the mid range and sharper response.

Been lovin my 2000 600 for several years now. With a 1.25 track on it among other things it never lets me down and goes anywhere I want to ride.

Had a 99. Bought it in 09 with like 3200 miles on it. LOVED it!! put 2000 trouble free miles on it and sold it in 2011. I miss that sled. Tough, powerful enough for me (i'm 270 lbs), and never let me down. had a 1.5" track under that thing and it would go just about anywhere I asked it to. Liked the engine so much, I bought an 05 500ss (SAME exact engine they used in my 99.) Doo used that 597cc up into the XP chassis too. Now is that not a good reputation for that engine (10 years of applications)?? And rated at 105hp, its pretty decent on fuel too. I consistently got 10-11 mpg. I personally think the 600cc class is the perfect size sled for trail/ditch banging. Any more cc and its just an extension of your man-member.

SLEDS:
1) 2005 MXZ 500ss. 4025 miles, Dynoport piped, RSI risers, 1.75" track, extros, orange n' yellow
2) 1995 Arctic Kitty Cougar 550. 4250 miles. Got it for $125!
