This has happened to me before. I just tapped the stripped hole to a M 6. I believe the bolts are M 5's to start with. I didn't even have to drill out the holes, the aluminum taps easily.
Exactly! I have had to do numerous and this was an easy, reliable fix. Make sure to stuff a rag in the cylinder to keep the metal shavings out if you need to drill.
I believe I used a M6X1 tap. When you go to tighten the bolts upon installation, push the reed assembly tight against the cylinder. This will reduce the stress on the threads and decrease the chance of stripping. Good luck.

Edit: possibly drill out and M6 tap?I have the very bad feeling that getting that broken off tap out of their is going to be impossible, really dont want to ruin a cylinder on a brand new 800km motor.

You can't drill out a tap. the drill will just find the path of least resistance into the aluminum. I got lucky once when I broke one off near the surface, I got in there with a tiny cold chisel and was able to back it out. If you can get it to budge at all you have a chance. Good luck! You might also be able to cut a screwdriver slot into the tap with a dremel tool. don't worry if you mess up the first few threads in the hole, they are plenty deep enough. when you tap a hole I was taught to go in 1/4 turn then out 1/2 turn etc.well my luck...I fix one bolt hole by just retapping the same size and then the next hole the tap broke off inside....so now im not really sure on what to do, its on the outter reed by the clutch and on the top bolt.

X2 on the screwdriver slot if you can

I don't think your going to have any luck getting that tap out with a screwdriver. Worth a try, but it broke because it reached the end of the threads and bottomed or reached a part that the pilot hole wasn't big enough. They snap easily. One thing you might try is drilling 1/16 holes around the tap right against it, starting with the part right against the threads. Then against the flutes.Try and relieve the pressure on the sides enough to get it to wobble slightly.Once you get it moving, use some penetrating oil and drill against one flute with a slightly larger bit, so you can get a jewelers screwdriver in try and get it to turn/wobble till you get it out. Then clean up the hole and put in a 6mm helicoil, or even a 7 if you have to.I had the bolt break off, not a tap,and I had to tap it to a larger size.Worked ok. Good luck.Screw driver slot i will try in the next day or two, i really don't wanna haul the motor. ive done it about 8 times in the last year on this machine, starting to not be fun anymore. Really hoping i can catch a break and get that sucker out, he broke off inside the hole, nothing sticking out.
