I do! Nothing major. Band aids, aspirin, tums, medical tape, scissors, medical wipes, and a few other odds and ends.

I carry some essentials, but many items in a standard first aid kit are useless on the trail, so I only carry a few items I think might be useful. A Leatherman tool has scissors and tweezers which are better than any 1st aid kit. A small 1st aid manual is actually handy and you can use it to start a fire if necessary. Antiseptic wipes, latex gloves, various band-aids, medical tape and sterile dressing pads, duct tape is useful for all sorts of things, even 1st aid. I have a tow strap (instead of a rope) which can be used for immobilizing. One thing which I consider very useful are wound closure strips for large cuts. Other things such as survival ground sheet (a trap with silver reflective side), axe, and survival shovel handle for splint which are part of survival gear I carry can be handy for 1st aid situation. I also carry SPOT. All this is very compact equipment which adds very little weight and takes up minimal space.

Our travels are extensively in the back-country and normally no one else is around so we carry extensive first aide kits. Pain killers are necessary, stitching needles and thread for large cuts that can't be taped (never had to use them but one never knows), eye patches, large small compression bandages, polysporin, various tapes including duct tape, space blankets and space bags, scissors, tweezers, safety pins, and other items like the normal band-aids and gauzes. Zip ties come in handy for many things like holding splints.

Besides the first aid kit is the survival kit with the fire starters, matches, axe, saws, candles, head lamps, and food for an overnight stay. Weather can come in and choppers can't fly so the injured may have to stay the night and one needs gear and creativity to keep them comfortable. SPOT is also carried but weather for the 911 call and a chopper can be a problem as described earlier. Another real possibility is the simple fact that S&R can't get to your location and you have to make doo for awhile until they can figure out what to doo.

I tried to find the BRP first aid kit to no avail. Is it a small one for small cuts with band aids, tape, and some gauze?

I carry a survival kit that includes all the first aid you would need in case of emergency + a spot connect device to contact S & R in a life threatening situation.

I carry a kit just like Ferniesnow. Pain killers, bandages, Sutures, space blanket, fire starter, etc. The venues are a long way from home and anything can happen in the mountins. Knock on wood I haven't needed anything out of the kit yet. Really don't want to use the sutures, those things freak me out😳

I carry one of my old ones from the Army. Compact, and has all the basic items for any wound. I also ride with a couple EMT's, who I assume have one, but then again, I'm not sure.

Only a basic first aid kit in my pack. I have a bigger one in the truck. Anything beyond that and I'll let S&R handle it.

All the medical supplies in the world won't help you if you don't know how to use them or how to treat trauma and shock. Usually just stabilizing the patient and controlling any bleeding is all you need to worry about until help arrives. I don't like to give pain killers - other then Aspirin or Tylenol.

I've ridden out of the mountains with a broken arm, blown out knee, broken collar bone, sprained wrists and an ankle, and dislocated my shoulders more times then I can remember. A shovel handle and duct tape make a great splint.

I saw pain killers and all I could think of was my nephew raiding my sled kit for a buzz :bighair . When riding local I carry nothing, my sleds got enough storage for baseball hat and 2 Q tips. I do carry a basic kit on trips in my saddle bag.

Good amount of basic stuff supplemented with several x-large gauze bandages, a compression bandage, a couple of large gauze rolls and 2 blood clotting bandages in a medium sized dry sac. If someone gets opened up, you will go through those large bandages very quickly. I also have a Sam splint because they are very light and small now, but not essential. Really, the role of a basic kit is to keep something small from getting worse. I pack the larger stuff for helping stabilize a more serious problem. In the end, there is only so much you can do and carry though. I simply try to make that window of opportunity just a little larger with what I carry.
