quick question. i picked up a cheap 2008 renegade 800 and wanted to build an off trail/play sled. my question is that i have a 144x16x2 track off of a summit here and was wondering if i extended the rails to 146 and swapped out drivers if that would work?

if anyone has any info it would be much appreciated!

thanks,

Joel

You can get custom rails from Ice Age to make it fit. Depending on the pitch on the track, you may have to change the drivers too.

ya the track is a 2.52 so i will have to swap from the stock drivers to 2.52 drivers. i was just curious if the 146 extensions would work with a 144 track. i was looking to keep the cost down with just extensions/drivers and not go with full rails.

Unless you have the 144" already why not do a 141"? You can install big wheels to make up for the difference.

Yeppers.. lots of Arctic Cat take off 141 x 2.25 or 2.31 tracks.. they are 3.0 pitch but they work fine on 2.86 drivers... An offset rear axle and 9 inch wheels and you are in business. These are better tracks then the old 144 x 2" tracks.. and no extensions - either tunnel or rail are required.
We put one of those set ups which were pioneered by Irondog on the buds Renegade XP last winter for a trip out west and it worked very well with 6.9" pilots up front.

ok that sounds like a viable option.

i have the 144x2 track in my shop here so i was just wondering if i could swap drivers and do a rail extension and i'm good to go.... if so will the 146 extension work? or could i swap drivers, and get away with a big wheel kit and run the 144?

thanks guys,

Joel

I am going the 141 route on ice age rails but it will fit with 137 rails too.

Joel, don't think you can get big enough wheels to run it with rear offset axle and big wheels. Maybe you could if you put 10 lug 2.52 drivers on.. but it is going to be very close.. With 9 lug drivers and and offset rear axle and big rear wheels, the 141 adjusts past the mid point of the rear axle slot.
