was going to buy a new track so i thought doing this would be fun.
what do you think i should extend it to?
i wanna start doing 50/50 on trail/off
want a 1.5 lug or higher. best choice?
also would i have to get a longer cooler?
also need snow flap since last one ripped off on our u.p trip. ideas?
was thinking of making my own tunnel extension and making some custom running board or buy some?
I ride in uper mi and U.P.
thanks for the help.
(MY GOAL)
top end rebuild (bored, ported, polished) not sure yet...
track
rail extension
tunnel extension
straight bars/risers 8" <have grips
clutch kit
drop a tooth
snow flap
custom LED light
running bored customization
sway bar removal
a-arm guards
maybe something with seat. narrower/higher
maybe shocks
(under body lights) <i have
new bogie wheels <i have
external drivers 10tooth <i have
any of this stuff can be used. so if you know any one hook me up. (;
Any Other Ideas? buying a truck this weekend (hopefully) if i due i may have to forget about some goals.

A 136" or 144" would still give you trail characteristics, and be able to get around well in deeper stuff.
You should get a longer for either conversion. Without one you would probably be OK in powder and great snow conditions, but would run into overheating issues on less than ideal days.
I would get ahold of Wild Child for rail extensions, or look into Ice Age rails if you didn't want to go the extension route.
You can use a running board like WRP, Snow Elimintors, Better Boards, Air Frames of any of those.
I use VanAmburg edge rails.
If you want some ideas, I have 3 different examples of different types of running boards I have built on my website.

Those are some ideas of what you can do. I am not saying they are absolute. It will give you some ideas on where to start.

thank you for the help. in about 3 years i will be going to school at Michigan Tech. i know 3 years is a lonnnnggg time away but thats something to think about if im putting this kinda time and money in this sled. (mostly likely keep her for a while) since ill be U.P riding thats like 4 to 5ft snow. maybe more. and drifts well... lol. it a while away but something to keep in mind so i dont have to do all this over again.
what size lug doo you think would be the best choice. i dont want to tear up lugs crossing the street. if i find a used 2 in i can always cut the lugs, and they would be stiffer thats a +

I'm no Mad Scientist like Maize... but other than extending the rails, I'm VERY pleased, and have gotten a lot of compliments with my work to James in the last off-season: Summit X seat w/ seatcap, Boondocker BD/tunnel extension, XP snowflap/taillight/bumper, 440 idlers, RSI 10 degree bars with 6" riser and pivot adapter, a-arm guards, and red LEDs... sounds like most of what you'd like to dowas thinking about extending the track. not sure what size yet tho.

I wired mine straight to the battery with a fuseable link... that way if I want to turn them on while he's not running, I can. Also good for when addressing a "downed" sled on the side of a trail... flick 'em on for better visibility (I rarely ride with them on anymore though). Thanks to yu to. U can just run thos LEDs into thos extra ports in your wuring harness. Theres a name for them im sure. Just cang recal. Lol. Wonce i get the garage clean. And the atv put back together ill start postin pics. Ext

Dont have Electric start. I more manly then that! Just

Any small 12v battery will work. I am in the beginning stages of putting new LEDs on my sleds. I need a couple to be delivered. I used to have them in pod form, I am putting on the strips to see if they are easier to install.
I am doing pink on my wife's sled, red on my trail sled and blue on my mountain sled.
I had an 8 LED daytime running light pod that I was working with and wanted to see just how much current it would draw. I left it hooked to my mountain sled battery for 2 days.
The battery beginning voltage was 12.93, after two days it was 12.62 volts.

I found a guy selling a renegade skid coolerand sum other stuff.

It won't directly bolt on, you will have to move the rear drop brackets back, they are mounted further back. If you go to a 144", the brackets are relatively the same as the 121".
Renegade's are their own breed.

I know it's fun to customize but with all the work you plan to do would it make more financial sense to sell your sled and buy one closer to the sled you want?Pick up a renegade or summit and go from there?Just an idea.Motor rebuild, shocks, track, extensions all add up to a lot of cash.
i thought abt that but i would not be able to sell my sled right now. and maybe sell it for $3500 in the winter. then a renegade will be like $4200. with prolly a 1.25 ripsaw r sumthin.
id like to do that. but idk.

So basically what I'm sayin, is if you ride trails half the time, (speed and cornering)if i had the choice i would go to a 136 with maybe a 1.5" lug ( and with a normal ski stance), that way your not too too tippy and you can still do some off trail riding.
If you go too long you won't be happy on curvy trails, although the longer the skid, the smoother the ride over bumps imo
