What the heck is BRP trying to pull over now? Total BS as far as I'm concerned.

Received an email from Dirt Cheap Snow this morning that said starting June 1st Ski Doo is requiring all retailers to charge full retail price on all OEM parts. Has anyone heard about this? Maybe it was posted before, I haven't been checking in that much lately.

Alot of companies are doing this now, you just dont know about it. About 7 vendors at my work have sent us similar letters in the last 6 months. One of them, weber grills, said they were doing this because people were buying them cheap and selling in bulk on ebay, online sales which was undercutting the dealers and putting thier dealing out of business. I cant even sell a weber grill in our store for .30 cheaper then the next guy because if they find out they will pull their line from our store and can fine us up to 5,000 for disobeying a contract. So alot of things you buy are probably in the same boat you just dont know it.
As for parts, if you have a good dealer they will discount you parts just by asking more times then not.

I buy most of my parts on line mostly because my closest dealer is 70 miles away, and a small dealer to boot. Back in the day, I used to call him up and have him order parts and as more and more on line retailers became available I found that I could not only get them cheaper but usually faster than he could. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of helping out the brick and mortar stores. I try to buy from the small town stores around here rather than going to the "big city big box stores". As for TV's and other products most of the "big box" stores all have the "We'll match any price" policy. When you get to the situation like the weber grill circumstance that is a policy put in place by the manufacturer. This must be the policy that BRP must have chosen to follow.

That's the dealer offer, not BRP. Almost every single dealer will give some off parts, accessories when buying new from them.Hope not ,part of my snow check deal was 15% of parts and acc
Depending on brps actual policy change that may or may not effect anything. I don't think BRP wants dealers losing bussiness, it seems quite the opposite.

I used to almost always buy most parts at the local dealer, because they used to have most stuff in stock. But when you go in there to buy something simple like a bearing or clutch buttons and they say 'We can order those', I usually walk out because I can order them too. If the dealers wouldn't have quit stocking everything and if BRP parts distribution system wasn't so messed up, more people would buy parts at dealers. But they can't make the same profit if they don't carry inventory and they can't get it there next day. Just about every other parts besides ski-doo that I buy from dealers, even motorsports parts, are usually there next day if they aren't in stock, and that includes foreign stuff like KTM. With BRP, you are lucky to get an out of stock item the same week if you call on Monday. I hope BRP reads this post, because there's many times I'll happily pay retail, but you better either have it in stock when I walk in or get it there by lunch tomorrow if I call. Maybe they need a few more distribution centers.
