Has anyone tried to remove or relocate this support (red arrow points to it). It seems like if that bracket was relocated one could take out a lot of plastic probably lessening the amount of snow/ice build up, and XM your REV so to speak.

I wouldn't remove it. That is a structural support for the footwells. The aluminum support will not withstand any speakable force. With the jumping you do, you will wipe out the footwell.

You would be better off getting a Snow Eliminator, WRP, Better Board or some type of open running board to get rid of snow.

I would take a long look at the 2013 beef on the well. it is very strong, I rode 1 , 240 Gordy! asfar as don't do it, I will do it then let you know how well it works. I was just looking at mine and wondered how the 2013 was so far forward from 2012 or even 2007. the running boards are supported on the 2013 somewhere but I forgot to look how or where. they are good! don't let the salesman tell you other wise. we will come up with a stock modified version, no diversion! Save your money! send me your $20

why not put the left on the right and go from there. cost of new rivets and time.way forward foot stance and no foot entrapment!:revinmotion:cut the plaztic, loose weight too! no snow in the well either. my buddy did this a few years ago but never said a thing till now! Free fix!

Having thought about it some more I think you guys are right, even if you could relocate the support your foot can only go as far forward as the cover that keeps you foot from getting into the clutch, which you can probably already get that far forward anyways.

I hate to ruin a set of plastics, but it might be worth it to cut out a triangle in the plastic where the build up happens. Obviously the easiest solution would be to get a set of running boards.

What does everyone recommend? I like the WRP's or Skinz's, but I have an issue with spending that much money on something that doesn't improve how my sled runs.

I like Danzicks homemade stuff, but I don't have access to a tig. Does anyone know if you can mig weld chromoly?

The STOCK Summit X has more open footwells then your showing with your "custom tunnel" and "snow eliminators". Take a look at the 2 big square holes just forward of the steel brace.



The steel brace also has a large hole in the center of it, which I cut out in the photo for my running board installation. (Its just behind the 2 square holes that are factory)

Yeah. I had one of those. I opted to not put those large of holes in the front of the footwell.

I used to have Summit X and when we went to LoLo had to do a lot of sidehilling. I did a lot of sidehilling with my left foot in the right footwell, and right foot in the left footwell with a lot of weight forward. When I got home, that piece that runs down the middle was bent.

It may been my fat butt on it but, and that particular riding but that is why I opted to make the two smaller holes and then flare them to make the metal stronger.

I think we can agree that the big difference for this OP is going to the addition of the open-type running board. That will get rid of the biggest issue with snow buildup.

If you clear the running boards of snow, there isn't much that builds up in the footwells.

I put the WRP boards on my sled for the strength due to my size/weight. They are far stronger then stock, and have the awesome benefit of getting the snow off the boards. Very happy with them, I am assuming any of the 'inserts' will work just as well!

You were reading my mind. I was just going to ask if those were WRP boards. I have not used them, but have heard a lot of good things about them. I think Paul from Sled Solutions sells WRP boards, doesn't he?

Yep, they are WRP Boards. I actually was in on the first run of 10, so I purchased mine directly from WRP. But yea, Paul sells them too.

The WRP boards are at the top of my list, but again the price is kinda high. Wish I could've got the discount of the first ten prototypes!

Sled Solutions just had a 30% off sale with free shipping on them, not sure if its over or not. It was close to the price of the first 10, about $30.00 more or so...

I just did a google search. Part of the reason I use Snow Eliminators is the price. You can get them for around $130-140 shipped to your house.

I did a google search and www.firstplaceparts.com has them on sale for $119.00.

They aren't flashy, but they are very well made.

If you are looking for less expensive option.

Most all of the "inserts" are quite affordable and do a nice job IMHO. But I'm thankful I was in on the initial group buy for the WRP Wide boards, well worth the money, honestly, they are worth full retail in my opinion.
