Hey guys,
Now that I got my 2012 MXZ X the dealer was offering me warranty. They told me their own warranty is better then SKIDOO B.E.S.T warranty. Said with their's you can take the sled to any licenced
mechanic shop i.e Arctic cat/Polaris etc.. as well as ski-doo of course. And their offer was $1795 + tax for a 5 year bumper to bumper. Though that being said, my sled already comes with 2yr engine warranty and a 1yr bumper to bumper. So really the $1795 is for the 3 years after and the second year (non-motor related as its already covered in the standard warranty).
I feel its a bit high when you facotr in tax it's $676 a year for 3 years basically. I find its a bit of a gamble paying for extended warranty on a new sled. My buddy bought his new in 2005 and its now 2012 and he has had no issues. Though having piece of mind for 5 years is also nice, its just the cost associated to it thats hard to swallow!!

Whats everyone else (canadians) paying for their extended warranty, can I get a better deal through a different dealer or is this a fair price??

Sounds like they are selling some sort of aftermarket warranty ,I have had both the aftermarket and the BEST from BRP. I had the Zurich aftermarket and it was not as good as the BRP one.I agree that it is a gamble paying for the extended warranty. I snow checked this spring and I'm leaning towards not getting one. I broke even on my 08 and my 11 remains to be seen.I'm a medium mileage rider at about 2500 per year ( if we have snow). If you pound on the miles the extended makes more sense.
There are a whole lotta things that I aint done but I aint never had too much fun ®

If you're going to get an extended warranty, stick with one from BRP.

You make a good point about mileage. Im lucky to see 2500 miles in a year. I realistically ride about 1500 miles in a year. Most of my riding is with the wife and she is more about the 3 hour rides, and heading back to the cottage to sit by the fire and read a book haha! Any of my fast riding is with the guys and we usually make a long weekend out of it and thats where i make up my miles.
And I also find myself pretty mechanically inclined. I have done the top and bottom on my 04' SDI. Not sure about all the computer technology in the e-tec though, thats a bit out of my skill level. But as you know with 2 strokes, anything can happen even if new and low km's! So it's still a bit of a gamble!

The computer stuff is the wild card, with the etec technology the sled has to go back to the dealer to have the codes cleared etc,I paid 550.00 for my extra three years which in Canadian terms would have been about 800.00 ( I guess).Have to do some math how many hours can you get for what you pay for the extended. My dealer is pretty cool about the computer thing ,they hook it up for free and tell me what it reads etc. That might be something to talk to your guys about.

I looked into aftermarket warranty when I bought my new sled. I was told any licenced shop can do the work as long as they register themselves. I saw this as a problem. Not every shop is willing to register. If I have a problem on a trip 1200 miles from home, the last thing I want to worry about is finding someone to fix it. With B.E.S.T., get it to the nearest BRP dealer and you will be on your way in no time. If you don't venture far from home or just go on small 2-3 day trips, maybe the aftermarket would be okay?? I went with B.E.S.T.

Good point!
If you don't mind me asking, what extra warranty did you end up going with and how much did it end up costing?

The most I could buy was an extra two years. If you wanted more warranty, I think you could buy the aftermarket at that point.

You have to remember that with any extended warranty, they wouldn't sell it to you at a price where they wouldn't be making money. My wife bought a land rover extended warranty, and while it gives her some peace of mind, there are a LOT of holes in it where the warranty will fall through.... I'd go thru the fine print and list of what's covered and what the limitations are, and know that if you buy it that it's a luxury..

True, they don't cover everything. All the big stuff is covered. It's on the website.

We all see that, but BRP doesn't.
