2012 MXZ-X 800 etec - $246 per year with Liberty Mutual 500k liab, collision and comp
That's good. I am paying close to 700 for 500k, through progressive of all things. I also insure my motorhome through them. It's time to shop around, I am insuring to much stuff. Can't help but ponder being self-insured.......to the extent the gore my allows.
Borderline...I have been warned about butt cheeks before....

thats what i do during the off season. i drop all coverage on my sleds actually cause my home owners will cover any damage.I was thinking of dropping the collison and comp and just carry the liability during the off season? But... if the house burns down... will home owners or a renters insurance cover the sled??

Liability?? Why would you need liability in the offseason?

You sure? Is this a special rider that you added to your homeowners policy? I don't think it is covered under a normal homeowners policy. Like if a tree falls on your truck in your driveway it would not fall under homeowners...it would go under your auto policy.

Insurance through Allstate for a 2012 gade X and a 2002 Polaris 500 XC is $250 per year for the riding season full coverage for both. When in storage it drops down to $150/$175 per year, fire/theft/storm coverage.

Yes this is the same thing i was told.As long as your sled is damaged by fire or storm and is physically in the garage at that time than it is covered by homeowners. It may be different for different states and insurance, so you should ask your agent. About 10 years ago a tornado swept through my neighborhood, boat and truck were in the driveway before the storm, after the storm the boat was "inside" the truck. Adjuster told me if the boat/truck would have been in the garage, homeowners would have covered it. Since it was not, had to file a separate claims for the boat and truck.

Hey Guys I am an Allstate Agent in NY and have been for 12 years. I can't speak for other company's or States but here in NY.. Homeowners policy's DO NOT cover anything that you can purchase insurance for.. Example cars,sleds,motorcycles,quads,boats..ext.... You can buy insurance(collision & theft) policy's for all these toys so why should we cover them under homeowners policy?? And BTW- I wont even mention how much I pay for my sleds and other toys..
Now that is not very nice.
And BTW...I run a restaurant and wont even mention how much I spend on food everyday

My homeowners specifically excludes any motor vehicle for which my insurance company could write a separate policy for. So, for example, if my barn burned down, my lawn mower (which is worth more than my sled) would be covered, but the sleds would not be covered, because they sell a comp policy for a sleds, but they don't sell insurance policies for lawn mowers. But as with anything insurance related, if you happen to know the right people or get lucky, you might get paid, but I wouldn't count on it.
Another thing to watch out for is that some homeowners policies exclude 'parts'. So if you have a complete sled, but it's in pieces, it might not be covered. (Otherwise you could just claim your burned sled 'one piece at a time' and end up with a $20,000 check for a $3,000 sled...)
