So last fall i bought an 06 rev 800 X which I love and treated me great. my dad got in a nasty accident and totalled his sled. he offered to "buy" my 06 off of me and I think I want too because I found an 08 renegade 800 X with 5000 miles cheap. When I go look at it is there anything in particular 08's had wrong with them? thanks
possible new sled

08's had a recall on the track drive shaft. It was a new design to reduce weight and many had weak welds. Verify that is was replaced under warranty.
The rear suspension is linear vs progressive and a kit to update it to the latest was made available. It included a new rear arm, bushings and washers. I changed mine out and it made the sled ride noticeably smoother in the studder bumps. Seat foam was also changed out to further smooth the ride in following years. Some guys changed it. I didn't.
Some sleds had handwarmer issues. Some ate belts due to clutch misalignment.
I've had no issues with my 08 Gade other than an infrequent fidgety dess and have 6700+ miles on it to date. I did some upgrades though the past couple years.
I also checked my compression when I summerized it this year hand have 140lbs PTO side and 144lbs stator side.
